  I ordered 2 yards of topsoil, and the delivery was on time. As I started spreading the soil in the yard, I couldn’t help but wonder why it felt so heavy. Regardless, I spread it everywhere, and that night, we had a big rainstorm. After the storm, I realized why the soil was so heavy—it was packed with rocks and stones! Now, everywhere I spread the soil looks like a rock quarry. Caveat emptor!

  I explained to Mercury mulch that I was leveling some spots, overseeding, and aerating our front lawn. They suggested their 50/50 mix which they said was sifted. Customer service and delivery was great. After spreading the soil, I noticed glass and some metal up to two inches in size. After aerating and watering I found more glass and rocks up to 2 inches in size. I read a response that their sifter is 3/4 inches. I sent Mercury mulch a message on their website and didn't get a response. If I had of read the reviews first I would have taken my money elsewhere but since I decided to support a local small business I got a lesser quality product. I take great pride in our landscaping, my time, and money. I live in Ashe Meadows in Hampton and I figured this place was a reputable small business. Our lawn is now not safe to walk on and I'm continuing to pick out glass and rocks. Email from the owner on 10/29/2024 >> " I believe I responded to your email in a timely fashion and offered a solution that would satisfy you. Because we weren't able to work this out amicably, and your choice to leave us a negative review. I'm no longer offering a refund on this material"

  I've only ever shopped here for plants, gifts and fall decor, but every time I go it's a great visit. The customer service is friendly, informative and helpful. Inside the gifts, trinkets and really cool bird feeder section are quite nice. We felt the price of most there reasonable and the indoor as well as outdoor areas are well organized and clean.
