Awful Warranty Service
I purchased a recliner from La-z-boy in January of 2025 for a newly disabled relative. Their limited mobility meant that they needed a comfortable place to spend most of their day. For about 11 months we were very happy with our purchase. Unfortunately around Thanksgiving 2025 the chair started to have issues. By the first week of December it was no longer operational.
I called La-Z-Boy to schedule a warranty service. La-Z-Boy contracts with a company called "AHM Furniture" to provide warranty services in this area. I was scheduled for a virtual tech visit followed by an in-home appointment on 12/8. Unfortunately the tech was not able to repair the recliner. They assured us that they would follow up with their supervisor and schedule a return date. That return date came and went. AHM failed to show which meant I took a day off of work for no reason. We rescheduled. The AHM tech arrived and knew nothing about the previous visit. They tried the exact same things as the previous tech and got the exact same results. They left again with the chair still in a non-functional state.
After a few days of no updates I contacted La-z-boy again and was told that the issue would be escalated to a "tech supervisor". As this was the week before Christmas I expected there might be delays. What I did not expect was that when I followed up on 1/13/2026 the tech supervisor had yet to review the case.
In the meantime my relative had been waiting more than long enough for a functioning chair so I bought another La-z-boy (as they liked the first one so much) thinking that it would be good to have a backup (1 is none) and other people in the house might enjoy the chair as well. That chair was purchased 12/26/2025. It stopped functioning on 1/10/2026 leaving me with two non-functional La-z-boy recliners.
I was scheduled for another virtual visit on 1/20/2026 to again demonstrate to La-z-boy that the first chair was non-functional. I was again scheduled for service with AHM Furniture on 2/2/2026. Again AHM Furniture was a no-show without even the courtesy of a call or text. I called AHM Furniture for an explanation. None was provided. I was told that the next available service appointment was 2/12/2026 and there was no way to be scheduled earlier. I called La-z-boy and was told they would see what they could do to expedite the service. What La-z-boy did was nothing at all, though I was told they could offer compensation for the inconvenience. A tech from AHM Furniture arrived on 2/12/2026 to service both chairs. The newer chair they were able to repair by replacing the remote that La-z-boy and shipped to me. The original chair they could not repair using the spares I had been shipped. Everything short of the motors was replaced and tested in various combinations. The tech was stumped. He told me that he would recommend a chair replacement.
I called La-z-boy the next day to follow up and was told that they would ship out new parts (the same components that had already been tested or replaced three times) and schedule me for another visit with AHM. At this point I was absolutely furious though I managed to clearly and logically explain to the customer service rep that this was not acceptable and they would need to provide a better solution. It's only at this point, more than 2 months after the initial attempt at repair that I was "escalated to the next level of service". On 2/16/2026 the next level of service got in touch to explain that the chair replacement had been approved. I could schedule a time to pick it up in-store or pay to have it delivered. After wasting so much of my time making calls to La-z-boy and waiting for tech to visit or not visit I was absolutely not doing any more work for them and told them that they would be providing delivery themselves. The next day they sent an email confirming that delivery would be covered and they would provide $200 in compensation. Big whoop. The chair was delivered 2/19/2026, over two months after it stopped working. I will not be purchasing a La-z-boy in the future.

This was the worst experience purchasing a retail product I’ve ever had. The chair needs repairs and the technician keeps blowing me off. I’ve called the service center and they don’t respond even though they ask if they can have someone call me. The Fairfax store where I bought it won’t let me speak to the salesman or general manager!
