  Extremely Disappointed – Bought for Post-Surgery Recovery, But Remote Issues and Terrible Service Made It Useless When I Needed It Most I purchased this La-Z-Boy recliner specifically because I was told it would help with recovery after my upcoming lobectomy. I needed something comfortable that would easily position me at a 30–45° angle during the early days after surgery. Unfortunately, this purchase turned into one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a furniture company. The chair arrived, but the remote didn’t work at all. Delivery personnel left me sitting in it, and I immediately called customer service. A representative helped pair the remote, but it only worked for a moment before failing again. They scheduled a virtual visit, where the tech had us flip the chair over just to read the model number, then insisted on walking me through the same pairing process I’d already tried multiple times. It still didn’t work. He promised to send a new motor, other parts, and a remote, and said a technician would come install them. I stressed repeatedly that my surgery was just days away (June 11) and that I desperately needed the chair working. He assured me the parts would arrive in time. They didn’t. The day before surgery, nothing had shown up and no technician had been scheduled. I went to the store in person to explain the situation. The manager offered to swap it with a floor model, but I would have to haul the broken one back myself and take the new one home—no delivery assistance. With my husband being 65 and me facing major surgery, that was completely unrealistic. Parts eventually arrived sometime in July, but as of the end of July, I still have not received a single call to schedule a technician. Between my husband and granddaughter helping me, I was able to use the chair a little at first. It is comfortable and looks nice, and I was able to use it once I could manage the remote (which took nearly two weeks because of the surgery on my right side). However, once you sit in it and really examine the construction, it doesn’t feel like the high-quality piece La-Z-Boy is known for. I grew up hearing how great La-Z-Boy was, but this experience has completely changed my mind. The chair itself is okay, but the remote/motor failure combined with zero urgency or accommodation from customer service—especially knowing my medical situation—makes it unacceptable. I will never buy from La-Z-Boy again. Strong recommendation: Go to a local store like Chuck’s Furniture instead. I bought my couch and another recliner there five years ago. They arrived in perfect condition with zero issues. Excellent service and quality that actually lasts. I’m still waiting for that technician call. Very disappointed.
