  Today, we drove three hours from Northern Virginia to Newport News specifically to pick up a specialty pool paint that had been set aside for us. When we called the store that morning, the assistant manager, Heather, claimed she "had no idea what we were talking about." Despite emphasizing her title as assistant manager, she seemed to have zero knowledge about pool paint—which is bizarre for someone working at a Leslie’s Pool Supplies store.When we arrived after our long drive, the epoxy paint was handed to us without the required catalyst. Heather’s attitude was completely dismissive, telling us, "You set this aside, you want this, here you go, I have nothing to do with this." When I pointed out that as an assistant manager, she should communicate with her staff about customer pickups—especially for niche items like specialty paint—she refused to take responsibility. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. Heather urgently needs retraining, and we will never return to this Newport News location.

  The lady working today at 2pm is extremely rude. Im going to assume this is Heather based on the other reviews. When we walked in I heard her frustration with a guy asking about his water sample. She spoke down to him like he was an idiot. Obviously I was not the only one to think this, because the next customer said, I’m afraid to give you my water sample. Your employee proceeded to lecture the customer about how you can only help people so much and that was all she could do. We grabbed our items and got in line to make our purchase. This is our first time here so we assumed we were in the correct line. Your employee asked us if we needed help or something. We said that we had items to purchase and she said well yall need to be at the other register and then I can help you in a very demeaning tone of voice. We decided to just leave and we will not return. Your employee talks down to others and lacks any type of customer service skills. I would not advise anyone do business here. If she’s the Asst Manager they won’t do anything about her. Obviously they are ok with this type of attitude. Do yourself a favor and try another company such as Anchor Pools. This place was closest to our home so we wanted to try it, but it’s not worth being treated like that.

  Terrible customer service — Avoid this location. I had an incredibly frustrating experience at this Leslie's Pools location. The assistant manager, Heather, provides the worst customer service I have ever encountered. She was extremely rude, completely ignored my questions, and lacked basic knowledge about pools and pool care. An assistant manager should be helpful and knowledgeable, but she was exactly the opposite. Save your time and go somewhere else where the staff actually cares about helping customers.
