UPDATED REVIEW:
I am very happy to provide this update. After I emailed my designer, Tim Pearson from Meadow Farms reached out to understand what went wrong. Although I was ready to walk away, I took his call and explained my frustration. I told him that unless they planned to re-mulch everything, there wasn’t much left to discuss. Tim didn't skip a beat—he said that was exactly what they intended to do, and asked how else they could help. I noted a few previous mistakes that needed correcting, as well as a couple of extra tasks outside the original contract, and Tim graciously agreed to handle it all to ensure I was satisfied.
The work was scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 7th. Harry and his crew arrived this morning, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Harry was polite, respectful, and incredibly easy to work with. We walked the grounds together to confirm the plan, and the crew spent several hours re-mulching, edging, and taking care of the remaining details. They cleaned up beautifully and walked me around at the end to make sure I was completely satisfied.
I considered removing my initial negative review, but I believe the true sign of a great company isn't whether they never get complaints—it’s how they handle them. As a repeat customer, I’ve always been happy with Meadow Farms in the past. Once the right person got involved, they went above and beyond to fix the situation. I truly appreciate their efforts to make things right.
I've revised my rating from 1 to 4 stars. I deducted one star only because of the effort required to escalate the issue and get it resolved.
One Star
I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service and management at Meadow Farms following a $25,000 landscaping project.
To be fair, and the only reason they received one star, is because the installation crew did an awesome job. They worked incredibly hard for four days, and I have absolutely no complaints about their professionalism or workmanship. My issue lies entirely with how management handled my subsequent complaints regarding plant transplanting and mulch depth.
TOTAL FAILURE OF 24 TRANSPLANTS: As part of the project, 24 plants were relocated. While I understood up front that transplants are not covered by their warranty, every single one of them died. When I asked for a small token gesture of goodwill—like a few replacement plants—I was repeatedly hit with "it's not covered." An inspector later blamed me for not watering them, completely unaware that I had set up a dedicated sprinkler to water the transplants and watered exactly as instructed. I asked for a call from management to discuss this, but no one ever followed up.
INADEQUATE MULCH DEPTH AND EXCESSIVE WEEDS: I paid for 3 to 4 inches of black mulch across all beds. Instead, many areas were barely covered, and weeds quickly took over. When a second inspector arrived, he dismissed the issue by kicking the dirt and making excuses—claiming it was deep enough in the middle, or that they don't mulch edges deeply to prevent wash-out (apparently meaning I should just expect weeds on all my borders). He never measured the depth and looked at all the beds. When I pointed out areas where it was clearly not deep enough, he was gaslighting me and insisting that it was.
DEFLECTIVE EXCUSES: The inspector then claimed I waited too long to report it because the work was done in the fall and it was now June. I reminded him that weeds don't grow in winter, I called as soon as they appeared in the spring, and it took Meadow Farms a long time to get someone out. He also told me I should have applied Preen. When I asked why Meadow Farms didn't apply Preen when creating brand-new beds, he had no answer.
Once again, I requested that a manager call me to resolve the issue, and once again, my request was completely ignored. I ultimately had to spend two full days clearing weeds myself from beds that should have been properly mulched and treated from the start.

We recently had Meadows Farms completely remove our old landscaping and install new shrubs, a tree, sod, and new edging stones. We could not be happier with the results! The entire project came out exactly as we envisioned, and the transformation to the front yard is incredible.
A huge shout out to Carolyn, who did an amazing job designing the project and helping bring our vision to life. She was thoughtful, professional, and wonderful to work with throughout the process.
The installation crew was also fantastic — they worked incredibly hard and completed the entire project in just one day. The attention to detail and efficiency were impressive.
Everything looks beautiful, and we will absolutely be working with Meadows Farms again in the future. Highly recommend!

I visited the Leesburg Pike location in Great Falls and George was a huge help. Kind, friendly and loaded all the mulch into my car. The staff here are always helpful - pleasant experience every time. And they have some of the more affordable natives in the area.
