I want to make others aware of my experience with Extra Space Storage at 1975 Cunningham Drive in Hampton, Virginia.
I moved into my storage unit in October 2025 and was given what I believed was a very good rate. However, after just four months, my monthly rent increased by $100. Then, only four months later, it increased by another $100.
I was later told that my original rate was a promotional discount and that rates are subject to change after 30 days. Unfortunately, this was not clearly communicated to me before I rented the unit. Had I fully understood how quickly and significantly the price could increase, I would have considered other options.
This is the first self-storage company I have ever used that has raised my rent twice within a single year. I believe customers deserve clear, upfront communication about pricing and the potential for future rate increases.
If you’re considering renting here, be sure to ask detailed questions about promotional rates and how often your rent may increase. Please be aware of this before signing your rental agreement.
