Take your business elsewhere. The Home Depot will provide you with a much better experience. The only consistencies I see at this particular Lowe's are as follows: low inventory, theft of items, much higher prices than necessary, and employees who are either trained too poorly to do their job or just don't care. I'm sorry but it should not take 25 minutes for someone to get a ladder and get an item down from the top shelf (where they purposefully stock these items)... associate for whatever reason couldn't do it himself? So he called someone over, they talked for a second, and then just kept standing around. He asked another lady only for her to do the same. They pretty much stood there looking at customers and talking while not actually doing anything. I don't understand why 3 different people had to be consulted on this, why its so difficult to get a ladder and grab a box, and why nobody seemed to care. We gave up and left, and we won't be back!

Return policies have become very strict, resulting in wasted money and discarded product.
Often I buy more than I need for a project, then return the excess. In this case, I had my receipt and two plumbing items in sealed bags. However, due to the number of days since my purchase, no refund or store credit was available. Had I been quick thinking when shocked by their denial of my request, I would have given them the items as a parting gift. Now I'm forced to throw away good product.
The major competitor to Lowe's in my region has much better return policies. I may possibly return to Lowe's, though unlikely. They'll do fine without me.

This place is flat out ignorant, as you can see for yourselves these people called me in at 1:05 EST just to tell me you’ll have to wait at least a hour to speak with someone??? That’s completely unacceptable, this Lowe’s won’t be around long just go to Home Depot.

an elderly Caucasian male associate I ran into in the middle of the store who I asked if he could
get a hold of anyone in management, in which he replied there’s managers all over???? (🤔 so why do I have to wait a hour?) then I told him the situation to which he said “OH that’s NORMAL”!! So I replied what type of island time is that you can’t set an appointment for a guest then say they must wait while I go on break for an hour, is this Lowe’s owned by a foreign entity or group? ? ?
The guy went social justice warrior 2.0 stating “ya know it’s everyone it’s not just you it’s not always about “RACE” ……………. I only took a split second to reply cause it was so ignorant yet again that I didn’t once mention race😐………… after I told him that he had a quick uh oh moment look on his face then he rushed to looking up names in his phone. To break the silence I told him he took a giant swing and a miss huh!!! He tried to act self righteous in the situation and failed. After 15 minutes I decided it was best I left.

I have never experienced customer service as bad as I did with the Lowe’s on Jermantown Rd in Fairfax, VA.
I ordered a smart door lock online, and Lowe’s shipped me the wrong item. Their mistake should have been simple to fix. Instead, it turned into weeks of wasted time and endless frustration.
Customer service repeatedly promised that they would send me a prepaid return shipping label. Every time I called, I was told someone from the store would call me back. That callback never came. This happened roughly six different times over the course of several weeks.
In the end, the store completely changed its story and told me the only way to get a refund was to drive an hour to the store and return the incorrect item in person. They refused to provide any option to mail back the item they had shipped incorrectly. Instead of taking responsibility for their own mistake, they expected me to spend my own time and money fixing it.
To make matters worse, the employees I dealt with were consistently rude and dismissive on the phone. There was no sense of urgency, no accountability, and no interest in helping resolve a problem that Lowe’s created.
This was one of the most frustrating retail experiences I’ve ever had. Shipping the wrong product is understandable—mistakes happen. But weeks of broken promises, zero follow-through, poor communication, and forcing the customer to clean up the store’s mistake is completely unacceptable.
I won’t be shopping at this Lowe’s again, and I would strongly encourage others to think twice before ordering from this location.
