I don’t understand a month to month storage unit and you pay six months in advance. Don’t sign a contract. Haven’t even moved in yet. but yet you can’t get all your money back, minus one month. . I don’t understand. I wish someone could explain it to me. My lawyer says that we could fight it and I’m trying to figure out if I want to, but these guys are very unfriendly and please think twice about using them. Thank you. Hope everyone has a good day.

I have been to the unit 2 times now only to find that no one was there to help me find the unit or explain to me how to get into the unit. Both time I visited was 11 in the morning. Why was no one there to help me? I have to dive from Enterprise which is approximately 60 miles (one way).

1-Star Review: Absolute Scam – Stay Far Away from Extra Space Storage!!!
I moved into an Extra Space Storage unit in January, expecting stability as a disabled veteran on a fixed income.
The representative gave me two options: a promo rate of $49 that would go up at some point (no timeline provided), or a "fixed" rate of $59. Since I planned to keep my belongings there long-term, I specifically chose the fixed rate to avoid surprises and manage my limited budget. The rep confirmed this was the stable choice.
Four months later, I get a notice that my rate is jumping to $111 per month because of vague "increased operational costs." I called immediately, and the manager's best "solution" was to raise it to $84 or move me to a smaller unit, which wasn't even an option for my stuff. No real explanation, no accountability, just a massive middle finger after I had already committed.
I spent the weekend physically emptying the entire unit into my garage. As a disabled veteran, this was brutal on my body and health. All because Extra Space Storage couldn't honor what they clearly presented as a fixed rate.
This is a straight-up scam. They lure people in with low "fixed" rates knowing full well they'll jack them up once you're settled and moving everything would be a nightmare. They count on most people just eating the increase rather than dealing with the hassle of moving out after just a few months.
Do not rent from Extra Space Storage. Their "fixed" rate means nothing. Your bill will change at the drop of a hat with zero real justification. Save yourself the stress, physical pain, and financial hit. There are plenty of other storage options that don't treat customers like suckers.
Worst storage experience I've ever had. Zero trust, zero integrity.
