My initial experience was good. The facility was clean and the manager at the time, Alex, was great and easy to work with. Got in with the promotion rate of $65 a month (this included $20 of Extra Space insurance, which I later found out I did NOT need). Within 4 months they tried to raise it above $100, thankfully Alex was wonderful and got us a discounted rate of $86 a month. While that was nice, 6 months later I was charged $146 and there was nothing to be done about it. I either had to accept a monthly payment increase of over 100% in 1 year or leave. I chose to leave a few months later once I was able to find a different place. When I was checking out and chatting to other storage facilities I found out that I did not need that Extra Insurance because my renters insurance policy already covered my storage unit. When I called the Extra Space number to get the unit in the first place, they told me I was had to have their insurance. Not only did they increase the rent of this storage unit by over 100% they also charged me $20 a month for insurance I did not need. $320 that I did not need to spend and would like refunded. The new manager did nothing to address my concerns and I highly suggest finding a small local storage company instead if you can wait for something to be available. The local ones will often let you lock in a price for a year contract as well, Extra Space Storage does not do this. I am not the only person to complain about this price increases either, seems like they are becoming more common.

I have been storing items here for almost two years. The facility is always spotless, and I love the bluetooth entry using my phone. The onsite manager, Sean, is very friendly and helpful. When I was looking to move to a smaller unit, he found the perfect unit near my existing space. Much appreciated- thanks!

Sean, at the Manufacturers Road location, is very professional and knowledgeable. The property is spotless and I can tell he takes pride in keeping it that way. I love the ease of technology. It has only been a couple of years since I last had a storage space but the tech at ESS is fantastic. I love not having to keep track of keys and codes. The spaces themselves are thoughtfully arranged as well; Instead of being narrow and deep, they are wide and shallow, which makes it so much easier to arrange items, find what you are looking for, and not lose track of what you have stored.
