⭐ 1 STAR — Absolutely ridiculous experience with Lowe’s
I bought a roughly $300 chainsaw from Lowe’s on October 1st. I worked and didn’t get a chance to actually use it until October 3rd. The VERY FIRST TIME I tried to use it, the motor was locked up. I took it straight back to Lowe’s THAT SAME DAY. I had owned the chainsaw for two days and it was defective the first time I tried to use it. That’s when I was told they couldn’t return it because of a 48-hour return policy on chainsaws.
Where is that clearly advertised when you’re buying one?
The chainsaw itself says it has a 2-year warranty, and when you purchase it they’re more than happy to offer you additional paid coverage. But nobody made it clear to me that Lowe’s has such a short return window on this equipment. Then the situation got even more ridiculous. After being told they couldn’t refund/warranty the chainsaw, they eventually DID process the money back to my card except I was told it could take around three days for the $300 to actually be returned.
Instead of simply exchanging my defective chainsaw for another one, they charged me ANOTHER $300 for the replacement chainsaw. So after all that, I walked out having essentially $600 tied up in ONE $300 chainsaw until the original refund makes its way back to my account.
Think about that.
I bought a $300 chainsaw.
It was defective on the first use.
I brought it back after owning it for two days.
I was initially told they couldn't refund it.
Then they DID refund it.
The refund takes days to process.
And instead of simply swapping the defective machine, I had to pay another $300 to leave with a working one.
If I didn't have another $300 available, what was I supposed to do? Just leave without the chainsaw I had already paid for? I eventually had to get a store manager involved just to get the situation handled. I appreciate that the manager ultimately did something about it, but a customer should not have to go through this much hassle over a brand-new defective product. I've spent a lot of money at Lowe’s over the years washer and dryer, dishwasher, lawn equipment, tools, and plenty more.
After this experience, I’m done. Home Depot will be getting my money from now on.
If you're buying a chainsaw or other outdoor power equipment from Lowe’s, READ EVERY WORD OF THEIR SMALLY PRINTRD RETURN POLICY POSTED BY THE RETURN STATION BEFORE YOU WALK OUT THAT DOOR.
Apparently, buying something brand new doesn't necessarily mean returning it when it's defective is going to be simple. ABSOLUTELY PISSED ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE!!

This isn't about security—it's about surveillance. Flock's system aggregates data across thousands of locations, building a massive database of Americans' movements that can be accessed by law enforcement and potentially other entities. Your visit to buy paint or a light fixture shouldn't result in your location being tracked, stored, and shared.
Lowe's made a conscious choice to prioritize surveillance over customer privacy. There are plenty of other hardware stores that won't track your license plate when you shop. I won't be back until they remove these cameras and respect their customers' right to privacy without constant monitoring.
Take your business somewhere that doesn't treat every customer like a potential criminal.
