I used to use Lowe's as my go-to home improvement store, I guess because I lived slightly closer to the Owasso location than Home Depot. The management of this store is just wild to me, and I finally had enough and have been using HD as my go-to for several months now. I still have to go to Lowes every couple months because they have something in stock that HD does not have and every time I go I'm reminded why I no longer frequent the place.
1. If you need a lumber cart, you will have to get one out of the parking lot and bring it in. Every. Single. Time. The cart corrals are overflowing into the adjacent spaces and no carts are inside. This was really my last straw when one visit 4-5 employees were inside near the lumber checkouts and someone was making an announcement "available associates please collect carts" (or something to that effect) and all of them just stood around. I went back outside and got my own cart. "No worries guys, you stay put and I'll do your job."
2. If you need something unlocked, you're better off getting in your car and driving to another store - that will be the faster method. I understand waiting a few minutes, but the last time I tried to get propane I waited 15 minutes after paying, went back in to check, then waited another 10 minutes. The last time I needed wiring I waited 10+ minutes, seeing no less than 5 employees walk by, and then just realized I could reach around the cage and grabbed what I needed and headed to check out.
3. My latest trip in (for a product HD did not stock locally) showed the item on sale online for $109.00, with a regular price of $129. In store, it was listed and rang up as $139. Kind of worth a correction, especially since I was getting 4. I asked the cashier, and they did ultimately get me the advertised price, after waiting about 12-15 minutes total -- first of her scrolling my phone on their website showing the price, then waiting for a manager, then the manager doing the same for a couple minutes, before putting it in as a price match. They did get me the advertised price, just wasted a bunch of my time that it should not have cost me.
4. Oh, I also waited 5+ minutes in line because, while there was another employee standing at a second register, I guess they were not trained or not allowed to open it or something, as they just stood there. This is also a pretty common occurance - long line at the lumber checkout with 3+ employees standing around and only one with an open register.
It's really like this store does not want your business. Hit up anywhere else if you can. To try to say at least something positive, the store is usually clean, moderately organized, and employees (when they will acknowledge you at all) are typically friendly, albeit not necessarily helpful.
Hopefully local management can get some of these things fixed, because while coming here is often a bad experience, they do reasonably often stock something I need and can't find at HD (without getting delivery, ordering for pickup, or driving to a Tulsa location). The problems this store has make it seem like management is just completely nonexistent, and the issues themselves seem very easy to fix but make shopping a terrible experience.
