  We gave Owen and Scapes multiple opportunities to address our concerns before posting this review, but unfortunately they were unwilling to offer any refund, credit, or meaningful resolution. We hired Scapes in October and paid approximately $5,000 for landscape design services. After nearly six months, the renderings we received were far from what we had repeatedly requested. From the beginning, we communicated that we wanted a Tuscany/European-inspired landscape design. Despite multiple meetings and conversations, the concepts presented consistently reflected a more traditional suburban landscape style that did not align with our vision. The process was frustrating from start to finish. Communication was slow, and we frequently had to follow up to receive updates or see progress. At one point, we felt compelled to sketch our own ideas simply to help move the design process forward. Even then, many of our requests were either overlooked or dismissed. For example, we specifically mentioned multiple times that we did not want red flowers incorporated into the design, yet they continued appearing in the renderings. When we raised concerns, we were told these were "minor details." After months of waiting, we were ultimately presented with a proposal of approximately $150,000 to complete the project—far beyond the budget we had discussed. The final result left us feeling as though significant time and money had been spent without receiving a design that reflected our goals or expectations. What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability. We requested either a partial refund or some form of credit toward future landscape work, especially given how far the final design was from our stated vision. Those requests were denied. For comparison, we have since hired another landscape designer who charged $1,500, communicated consistently, understood our vision from the outset, and delivered concepts that were much more aligned with the European aesthetic we were seeking. I rarely leave negative reviews, but after six months of delays, poor communication, and a design that never came close to what we repeatedly requested, I feel compelled to share our experience. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Scapes. If you value responsiveness, collaboration, attention to detail, and a designer who truly listens to your vision, I would look elsewhere.

  Scapes did a significant amount of work for us that transformed our entire property. We had minimal landscaping and a challenging hill in our back yard that they handled with ease. The owner, Owen, is truly a lovely human and a delight to work with. He cares about his customers and stands by all of their work. We had a couple trees that didn't pan out that they happily replaced within the warranty and they went beyond their responsibilities in assisting with damage that was done to some of their work that had nothing to do with them. The wealth of experience and kindness permeates the balance of the staff. I want to highlight Jimmy, our crew chief. He maintains three decades of experience in his position and is a wizard with a tractor. He converted a tractor trailer load of massive boulders into what is now the promenant border of our beautiful backyard gardens. I could go on endlessly regarding his and everyone's impressive experience and execution. You will likely find many companies that may provide lower quotes. They are certainly not the cheapest company around. That said, this is the company you want if you want your job done right. You get what you pay for. An example of their value is that they mature their trees at their farm beyond those that you will receive from others. This obviously yields higher prices, but cuts years off of waiting for the mature landscaping you desire. You also get to go pick them out in the design process, which is amazingly exciting and helpful. I will leave it at that, though I could go on much longer. In short: call them!

  There’s an old saying most people know well: “You get what you pay for.” Scapes Landscaping delivered that and more. We wanted to transform our backyard into a space where we could welcome family and friends. We had a vision, and the design architect brought it to life. Owen, the owner, leads this well-honed team with excellence. My vision of a beautiful outdoor space became a reality! Scapes also offers a variety of maintenance programs to help keep everything looking the way you want it. Whenever I can have someone else maintain the backyard we enjoy, I’m happy to do so, and we’ve been very pleased with that decision. It’s an investment that matters to our well-being.
