Do not do online ordering with Lowe’s. I have had the most infuriating experience today, and Lowe’s stole over $600 from my bank account.
I have some time off work, and decided to do home improvements with it. Placed a simple online order for paint, primer and supplies. Right away, their ordering system kept charging and returning multiple charges, some of which did not match up with the order amount. Weird, but okay.
I go to pick up the order. At this point the charge finally goes through. Fine. But then additional charges start coming… and eventually they have wiped out my entire bank account! I received over $800 in charges for a $450 order! The final charge they tried to process declined, because they’d already taken every dime I had.
Then, my 5-gallon bucket of primer was missing from the order. Despite showing “in-stock”, they had to get it in which would take several days. Fine. I canceled that primer and was just going to buy one that was currently in the store. Except… they took all my money!
Finally escalated to a manager, Kim, at the service desk. She was unable to fix my problem and told me to call corporate. Why is it my responsibility to fix a mistake that Lowe’s made?
I cannot use the other supplies without applying primer first. I told them if they were unable to fix my issue, I was returning all of the items for a full refund and buying all my supplies anywhere else.
Kim chose to refund my order and I returned all my items. I have a pending refund for 206 of the $640+ they took from me, but no explanation of what happened to the other $440. I am told “it should fall off in a few days”, though Reddit shows multiple experiences of people who never saw their money again when this happened.
So now I have $0. Lowe’s has refunded a portion, but are still holding onto $440 of my money when I have received 0 goods! Customer service was no help. Store management was no help. I just got sent back and forth.
No store credit, no token coupons, nothing to fix the immense waste of time and frustration. Just a hope that one day, I will have the money back and be able to buy supplies for my project. It won’t be from any Lowe’s.
I understand pre-authorizations. What I don’t understand is why Lowe’s would charge in excess of the full amount of the order? Why was I only refunded for part of my order when the entire ticket was returned and refunded? Why is it my responsibility to have no money in my account for days when Lowe’s messed up?

Free next day delivery is a scam to draw you into purchasing from Lowe’s. I waited all day for an order that was needed today only to find out the third party they use did not follow through on the pick up. I cancelled the order and now have to wait 3-5 days for a refund

For returning an item the employees decide to stand there and have a 5-minute conversation whenever the all the customer is already upset because the items not working for them they decide to stand there and talk and go at their own speed and take their time
