- KWKen WenningerJul 23, 20264.0I had a 2023 Sonata Limited emergency key made here. (The fob I bought as a back-up didn’t include the mechanical key.) I chose A-1 because my research showed they had what’s called a sidewinder or laser cut key machine. The key I needed is a high-security key featuring unique serpentine tracks rather than traditional notched edges, cutting them requires specific calibration. The team cutting my key was a bit slow, but they were very intent on making sure the key turned out right. (By the way, the fob for my car is pricey, ranging from $400 to $600 depending on whether it’s OEM or aftermarket. An OEM emergency key itself is $40 and another $40 to cut.) I’ll take slow-precise to quick-shoddy workmanship any day.
