  Great experience renting from Hometown Storage. Just moved my stuff in last week. The building was clean and seems quite new. It is conveniently located right in the heart of Newark and Heath. Sign up was easier than my last rental and management communicates well. Good value! +++

  I started renting my unit in June and the last 2 times I stopped at my storage there was cockroaches in my storage so I called in on 8/6/2026 and expressed my concerns and was told I needed to get a picture of one and I’m sorry HECK no cockroaches freak me out so I let them know that I hadn’t made my payment because I am debating hiring someone to throw all my belongings away and he just kept saying that it was my responsibility to get a picture of one of the cockroaches so I hung up and I asked a friend to try getting a picture of one and shortly after talking to the owners and expressing that i was thinking about hiring someone to throw my belongings away I received an email saying they placed a possessory lien on the articles of personal property, whether or not owned by me and I also received a text message on 8/6/2026(the same day I called and told them about the cockroaches) saying “Hometown Storage An auction date of 9/30/2026 has been set for unit 30” mind you my payment was due on 8/1/2026 and I hadn’t paid it because of the cockroaches and I had spoke with them about that but now I’m sitting here thinking how am I supposed to get a picture of the cockroaches without access to the storage I just decided to pay for the unit but knowing all my belongings in the storage are at risk of being infested with cockroaches I’m gonna have to pay someone to load it all up and then I’ll also have to pay to take it to the dump and yes I could just let them auction it but I refuse to allow them to make money selling my sentimental belongings I stored for a reason that I now have to get rid of because of there inability to properly maintain their units no I did not pay there $15 late fee because if you ask me, there getting a good deal beings I’ll have to pay someone more then that to do their job for them and get them a picture of the cockroaches and we’ll see if they even do anything about it there will 100% be an update on here about how they handle it once the person I have to pay to do THEIR job gets me a picture so I will say they ended up handling it in a decent a manner they texted me 3 days later on Monday August 10th and informed me that they would have a pest control person coming out that week to spray for all bugs so all together they did there part on the first weekday after I spoke to them witch is very appreciated and to me very reasonable they could of communicated with me a little bit better and been more understanding to how I was feeling but all in all they did maintain the property in a very professional reasonable amount of time and even before I was able to get them a picture of one like they had asked me to
