Edit:
Sidonian Tree Service stands by their work. After posting my review below, Ashley personally reached out that same day and made it right. He is an upstanding individual, and his willingness to step up and take accountability speaks well of both his character and his company. I'm satisfied with the agreed upon resolution. Feel free to read my original review below for the full context.

Original Review:
I so badly wanted to leave a positive review for Sidonian Tree Service, and had fully planned on doing so. Josh, Ashley, and their crew are genuinely nice, respectful people, and the tree removal itself was completed mostly competently. But the experience surrounding the job left me feeling wronged, and I'd be doing a disservice to others if I didn't share the full picture.
Josh came out a week before the job and quoted me $750. The morning of the work, his brother Ashley arrived and immediately began expressing reluctance about the quoted price, saying his brother shouldn't have offered it at that rate. Before I left for work, I expressed my uncertainty about the situation but had to go. My mother, who lives next door and was also having trees removed from her property that day, oversaw the job on my behalf.
During the job, Ashley told my mother he couldn't complete the work with the spider lift and wanted to rent a crane for $1,200 — parking it on my concrete driveway and hoisting the entire canopy of the broken tree over my pool and house. My mother pushed back, believing the spider lift was viable, and they ultimately used it. However, Ashley said this approach would cost an additional $500. I never received a phone call to discuss or approve this change. My mother approved it in the moment, and I understand that partially falls on us — but a quick call to me, the paying customer, would have been the right thing to do, in my opinion.
What's harder to overlook is the damage. That morning, I had specifically mentioned to the crew that the treehouse on my property holds deep sentimental value — my late father and I built it together. While my mother stepped away briefly, a piece of the tree was dropped directly onto the staircase leading up to the treehouse platform. The impact smashed the top of the safety railing, destroyed two treads on the ship's ladder, detached the ladder from the platform where it was secured at the top, shifted the entire ladder at its base, and left a safety railing post — designed to keep small children from accessing the stairs — extremely loose. Ashley acknowledged the damage to my mother and said he felt bad. That was the last we heard of it.
I understand that accidents happen in this line of work — tree removal is inherently unpredictable, and I don't expect perfection. What I do expect, however, is accountability. It has now been over three weeks. I have received no phone call, no apology, and no offer to make it right. I was charged $1,250 for a job originally quoted at $750, and I'm now facing an additional repair bill for damage caused by the very company I hired because they are, by their own description, fully insured professionals.
Yes, I could fix the stairs myself — but should I have to? I paid for professional work precisely so I wouldn't be left repairing things that were intact before they arrived, especially something with irreplaceable sentimental value. If Sidonian reaches out and makes this right by covering the cost of the repairs, I would be more than happy to update this review accordingly. Until then, I genuinely cannot recommend them — and that truly disappoints me, because I really wanted to.

The Sidonian team took down a 55’ declining blue spruce, trimmed my 12’ yews around electrical lines and trimmed two locust trees.
They work tog so well and do a wonderful job.
They had to work around my flower beds and were extremely careful. They cleaned up all debris, raked, blew away sawdust the road…and plus they were all three very friendly!
What a great crew!!! I’ve used them in the past and will again in the future!!! Highly deserving 5stars!

We had an emergency - a large tree fell down during a strom and blocked our driveway. We were unable to get out. We called Sidonian as they have down tree service before. They were symathetic to our problem and dispatched a crew, on a weekend, after hor=urs and had it cleared in very little time, We appreciate their professionalism and care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sidonian Tree Service
What is the average cost for tree removal in Toledo, OH?
The cost of tree removal in Toledo, OH varies depending on several factors. However, our pricing typically begins at $500 for basic tree removal services.
What are the benefits of tree pruning?
Tree pruning is crucial in urban environments as trees grow differently compared to those in forests. While forest trees grow upwards to reach sunlight, city trees often branch out early, which can affect their safety and health. Pruning helps manage large lateral branches that put stress on the tree, especially near homes or playgrounds. Our arborists thin out trees while maintaining their structure, allowing wind to pass through without causing damage. We also remove dead branches to prevent rot and promote quick healing. Proper pruning by professionals ensures the tree's longevity and structural integrity.
Why I need to hire a trained professional for tree work?
Tree work is inherently dangerous, involving sharp equipment, heavy objects, unpredictable forces, and work at great heights. Professional arborists use specialized techniques and safety equipment to secure tree limbs and protect themselves. They're trained to handle hidden risks like rot, insects, tension, and nearby structures or power lines. At Sidonian Tree Service, our experienced professionals prioritize safety while delivering exceptional tree care services.
What happens to trees after they're removed?
After tree removal, we repurpose different parts of the tree. Smaller limbs and branches are typically chipped and used for mulch or compost at nurseries and landscape companies. Larger limbs and trunks are often processed into firewood, providing a cost-effective and eco-friendly heating option. Some removed trees yield quality lumber, which can be repurposed for furniture making. At Sidonian Tree Service, we're committed to sustainable practices and can assist you in selecting an appropriate replacement tree for your property.
