I stopped by this massive hardware store chain to pick up some storage bins and tools for my travel vehicle. The building is gigantic and very well-organized, with clear signs overhead that made it super easy to find the exact aisle I needed. A friendly employee in an apron noticed me looking around and immediately walked over to help me locate the correct heavy-duty straps. Checking out was an absolute breeze thanks to the fast self-checkout lanes. It is a fantastic, reliable place to grab any supplies or gear you might need while on a long road trip.

On May 26 at 10:00 AM, I went to Lowes to purchase some materials for my move. I walked out with nothing because the checkout experience was a horror! First, there are no cashiers. No cashiers at a hardware store that sells big items? Everything is self checkout. Then, there is not even room to put my materials anywhere once checking them out. One of my items fell in a trash can nearby! How can there be no room to place items anywhere when a store sells such big items? After doing the work to scan everything and find places for my stuff, I scanned my Lowes rewards (as the helper nearby told me to do) to get a $5 coupon that I had. The screen came up with some weird message. When I tried to push "proceed," it would not proceed. I called over the "helper" who was dripping with attitude; she acted like I was stupid, only to find out she could not get the machine to proceed either. She then said, "get that stuff and bring it to this other register." The whole situation was a comedy of errors! At that point, I gave up, and just walked out of the store with none of the items I wanted to purchase. I then called the store to get a virtual "assistant." It took me 10 minutes talking to a computer to get a sales associate. I told the sales associate I would like to speak to a manager. I was put on hold, and 30 minutes later, as I write this review, I am still on hold. Apparently, Lowes does not care about its customers. They apparently act like it is a privilege to be shopping in their store. I will not be shopping here anymore.
UPDATE: In the reply below, the owner gave the same number that I called with the virtual assistant which puts you on hold indefinitely. After writing this review, I called the corporate headquarters and finally reached someone. However, the attitude was, "sorry for the inconvenience, but we are not going to do anything about it." I received a follow-up email to the same effect. If the owner and managers of this store really want to make things right, then they should have personally contacted me or tried to do so. Secondly, they need to change the situation by having REAL cashiers and not self-checkout AT ALL TIMES. This corporation cares nothing about its customers, which is evidenced by the way they have addressed this complaint.

Customer service sucks I’m not a plant guy just doing a pick up order . I asked an employee where this kinda plant can be? I got right there where the pole is . hmm lady it’s plants everywhere lol . I hate lazy people no sense of direction it’s on the left side right side nothing better yet how about showing the customer where it’s at but hey common sense ain’t so common theses days self checkout is an pain just shut it down I see why people go to it be crowded at Home Depot get better service and human cashiers
