My experience with Ted Collins has been deeply disappointing. They came recommended and were brought into the project by Pettis Pools. I understand that construction projects involve delays and unexpected problems. What I don’t accept is damage to my property, poor planning, dismissive communication, and an additional $9,000 added to the project without first providing a quote or asking for my approval. I was initially told the project would take two weeks, then three weeks. The hardscaping alone took a full month, with landscaping taking an additional three days. The lack of care for my property was especially frustrating. Part of my brand-new $20,000 automatic pool cover was crushed by a machine. Workers left trash around the property, including stuffing it into the retaining wall. We ended up collecting it ourselves so that our toddler would stop playing with cigarette butts. Equipment was left on the section of my front lawn that was still in good condition, leaving large brown spots after I had spent months treating and maintaining it. Workers also wrote on my exterior walls. Yes, they actually wrote calculations and made drawings directly on my walls exterior walls. There were repeated instances of the crew arriving around 7:30 or 8 a.m. without the equipment or materials needed, then standing around for two hours waiting. Similar delays happened during the day, including one stretch of roughly four hours with no work being done. It felt like a bunch of strangers were just hanging out in my backyard. Despite that, the crew consistently left around 2 or 2:30 p.m. Those patterns made the extended timeline particularly frustrating. When I raised concerns about the wasted time, I was told it was a “good thing I was paying by the square foot and not by the hour.” My time matters, and so does my family’s ability to enjoy our home. There were also avoidable issues with the work itself. The main entrance stair treads were glued down before the lights were tested. I was then told three lights weren’t working and three treads would need to be removed to fix them. A measurement error at the main entrance was acknowledged and required correction. It took a total of 10 days to build these 3 steps. Work on the secondary entrance was also stopped midway to discuss a change after construction had already begun. The resulting solution was unacceptable, and the work needed to be redone. The worker blamed the change on me to cover his mistake. I’ve worked with several other companies on this project and have been happy to praise their work. This experience has been markedly different. For the amount of money involved, I expected careful workmanship, respect for my property, reasonable planning, and clear approval of additional costs. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Ted Collins. In fact, I would suggest actively avoiding them.

Couldn't be more impressed with this company. We had a tree down in our driveway, blocking us in. I called for help and they had someone out within 30 minutes to assess the work, and within an hour there was a crew here removing the tree and clearing our path. All on a day when MANY people had trees down because of the crazy weather. The prices were very fair, even in an emergency situation, the guys that came out to assess (Dave and Paul) were both very professional and courteous, and the work was top-notch. I'll be recommending them to everyone in town who needs a great tree service.
