You don’t always get employees that go the extra mile for you these days, especially in New York. No one wants to give you a break sometimes.
I’ve been a customer of Extra Space on 51st in Hells Kitchen for a couple years and every single employee has been awesome, always ready lend a helping hand. HOWEVER, there is one employee that is absolutely the brightest star…. VALERIE… she has an infectious laugh and wonderful disposition. I was moving out and didn’t realize my payment for the next month was quickly approaching and I was stressing, I called and spoke to Valerie and she calmed my nerves. She is knowledgeable, and understanding. Two things you don’t always get from businesses these days. She helped me through the process saving me time and money. Exceptional staff means there is exceptional leadership…kudos Extra Space Storage- if you need a place for your belongings…this is the space…

BEWARE: If you value your money, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. There is absolutely no way this storage facility deserves more than one star. Since renting my unit two years ago, my monthly rate has increased by 5x! I understand that promotional pricing is temporary and that an increase is reasonable once the promotional period ends. What is completely unreasonable, however, is continuing to raise the price repeatedly after the promotional period has already ended.
At this point, it feels less like reasonable pricing and more like a strategy to squeeze as much money as possible out of existing customers simply because they know moving your belongings to another facility is inconvenient. The constant increases are excessive, frustrating, and incredibly disappointing for a company that should value long-term, reliable customers.
If this is how they treat customers who have trusted them with their belongings for years, think twice before renting here—you may get a good introductory rate, but be prepared to pay significantly more as time goes on.

We were moving things out yesterday because my family is moving out of state. JEANETTE THE PROPERTY MANAGER has helped us till the end. I met her when she first took over this location and I must say she is such a great person and extremely professional as well as her staff Eric and Mya. She has helped even when my storage bill went up and I couldn’t afford it because of my situation. Thank you so much for the kind words when I came in on rough days and for the awesome service! Building is nice clean and you actually see people in the office. I hope there’s more staff like you when we move to Extra space near our new location.
