What a Mickey Mouse operation Lowe’s has become… I ordered a bunch of plants, mulch, 2x4’s and other gardening items in advance of our summer rental season. Delivery came in dribs and drabs, but, of course, the most important items for me got delayed. I tried getting an order status a few times, but the app always returned a message stating I had no recent orders… even though I had spent close to $4,000 on a hot water tank with installation just 2-3 weeks before. Of course, there was no customer service number in sight. When I finally found a number to call, I was told that “since I had requested ‘same day delivery’ and since it involved lumber, some of the drivers might refuse to deliver it because it would not fit in their car… huh? First, I did not request same day delivery - I was fine with delivery within 3-4 days, but wait: Lowe’s cannot handle delivery on a dozen 2x4’s and 3 bags of mulch…really? I was told they handle deliveries like DoorDash, so your order may be outsourced to a third party and the driver may not want those items in their car. The best thing to do, I was told, would be to pickup the items myself. Well, that’s the very reason why I ordered and paid for delivery - because those items are heavy and messy, and I didn’t think Lowe’s was going to have such a huge problem with a dozen 2x4s. I was conferenced in to someone who may have been a supervisor, but certainly did not act like one. When I asked for a refund on the items they could not deliver, she said she could not do that and I needed to call the third party vendor myself. I guess “do-it-yourself” customer service. She then disconnected me prior to giving me the vendor’s number. It was late so I decided to give it more time. The next day, I received a text stating the delivery had just been made. It had not been delivered. I immediately called and once again, the runaround. After a very long hold period, now I needed to call the local Lowe’s who would contact the vendor. When I asked the customer service representative why she wasn’t doing that, she stated she had, but they kept on disconnecting her… Great… I then spoke to the local manager who stated they had no control over the vendor, and it may be another week or two… and this was supposedly a “same day delivery” and I had already waited 11 days. No control over the vendor? This is Lowe’s - if someone has the opportunity to deliver for Lowe’s, I would think they would be jumping on the chance to do so, and not picking and choosing what they deliver. I cancelled the order, which is probably what the Manager wanted, and I will never buy from the Lowest again. What a pathetic operation…
