I visited the Commack Lowe’s on July 11 and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. I have previously shopped at the Bay Shore location and received excellent customer service, so I expected a similar experience.
I was shopping for a new dryer and approached the customer service desk, where I was assisted by an employee named Anne. When I initially approached her, she appeared confused and, rather than asking another associate to assist me while she was helping another customer, she told me she would help me in a few minutes. Once she finished with the other customer, she assisted me, but throughout the interaction she was unfriendly, rushed, and did not take the time to explain important details regarding my purchase.
Based on the way I was treated, I left feeling that I may have been treated differently because I am a young Hispanic woman. While I cannot know her intentions, the interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
During the sale, Anne asked if I planned to stack my new dryer with my existing washer. I told her yes, and she sold me the required stacking kit, along with the dryer and other accessories. She assured me that my dryer would be delivered the following morning. When I arrived home, I received an automated text message from Lowe’s confirming delivery for the next day between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Based on that confirmation, I canceled my morning plans to ensure I would be home for the delivery.
The following morning, however, I woke up to another text message stating that my delivery had been rescheduled for Monday. This was extremely frustrating, especially since I had been verbally assured of Sunday delivery and had also received a written confirmation from Lowe’s.
When the dryer was finally delivered on Monday, the delivery driver informed me that he could not install the stacking kit because Lowe’s policy does not allow them to stack a washer and dryer unless both appliances were purchased together. This policy was never explained to me by Anne, despite the fact that she specifically asked whether I planned to stack the units and sold me the stacking kit. Had I been informed of this policy at the time of purchase, I could have made a more informed decision and avoided unnecessary frustration.
Fortunately, the delivery driver contacted his supervisor, explained that I had purchased the washer only a few months earlier in May, and they made an exception to complete the installation. I truly appreciate the professionalism and willingness of the delivery team to resolve the issue.
Overall, my experience at the Commack location was extremely disappointing. The lack of communication, inaccurate information regarding both delivery and installation, and the poor customer service I received made what should have been a simple purchase unnecessarily stressful. I hope Lowe’s takes this feedback seriously and provides additional training on customer service, company policies, and ensuring that every customer is treated with professionalism, respect, and without bias.

It is so unbelievably lame to walk into the store on July 11th and they have Halloween decorations out. Nothing says hurry up and buy consumer peasants than rushing to the next holiday so you can buy more useless junk.

Just bought a stackable dryer from lowes ...they didnt sell me stack mounting kit.....driver was rude from the start told be dryer was loose and new dryer would not work for stack ....on a 2 year old Samsung washer!! Then his coworker brings a stainless color dryer to my driveway. Gets worse Lowe's delv department does a full FBI interigation on my set up.....So I cancelled it completely.....super bad customer service from driver to customer service rep!!! $900 cost ....Ill buy same one from Home Depot or PC Richards save on Delv & install charges ....cant stand people coming inside my home with bad vibes. No more Lowe's for me ....My Lowe's card will be inactive moving fwds!!!
