A little scammy. Lock in a commitment for 6 months but the contract says they can raise the price anytime for any reason. This means that a 6 month commitment which is set to auto pay does not guarantee that during those 6 months they won't raise the price on you, Just to clarify a 6 month commitment at an agreed rate does not protect you from a price increase which totally defeats the purpose. Approach with caution

I had been using Extra Space Storage for about a year when the price suddenly shot up, making me consider moving elsewhere. However, Ethan Kaplan, who works there, kindly offered to take a look at my current unit. After seeing it, he suggested that instead of moving, I could switch to a slightly smaller unit at a promotional rate—noting that the smaller size would likely be sufficient for my needs. I decided to go with the downsized unit, which saved me about $150 a month for six months, so I renewed my contract. I am so grateful to Ethan for being so kind and showing me the different options. I would not recommend Extra Space Storage for anyone who needs storage longer than a few months. When I rented my 10x10 unit about 9 months ago, my monthly rate was $173. After just 3 months, it jumped to $279. Now, only 3 months later, they’ve increased it again to $384.
These constant, drastic price hikes feel like a bait-and-switch. If you only need storage for less than 3 months, it might be okay. But for anyone needing long-term storage, it makes no sense to have to either pay hundreds more every few months or go through the hassle of moving all your belongings to another facility just to avoid these increases. Very disappointing
