My elderly aunt has been a customer of Extra Space storage for 30 years. She has been having some trouble sending her payments recently and Shiju Mathews was so incredibly helpful today in getting everything updated on her account and setting up automated payments so this isn’t a problem anymore. Such a great guy who really went above and beyond to care for his customer!

I was out of the country due to a family emergency and returned to the USA yesterday. During that time, I fell behind on two months of storage payments. As soon as I returned, I went to the facility to explain my situation. I was fully prepared to pay the outstanding balance, including all applicable late fees.
And they have nonsense extra fees, like after two months they charge a lien fee and all this nonsense. They never tell us about these charges when we rent the storage space, and they never explain anything related to these fees upfront. Always avoid Extra Space Storage. I have used other storage places, and they don’t have these kinds of nonsense fees.
Unfortunately, the manager, who identified himself as **Sijhu**, was extremely rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. Instead of listening or trying to help, he immediately started talking about auctioning my belongings and refused to hear my explanation. His attitude and the way he spoke to me were completely unacceptable. He also stated that he was the only manager and acted as if there was no one else I could speak to regarding the issue.
I understand that I was responsible for the overdue payments, and I was not asking for them to be waived. I was simply asking for a chance to explain my emergency and receive respectful customer service. Sadly, I received neither.
This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I have rented with another Extra Space Storage location for over a year and never experienced anything like this. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location due to the manager's behavior.
