Facility is new and very clean, a gate, security cameras. No fence ( more on that in a moment). Management provided a new inexpensive padlock for free, I thought that I was being smart so I bought a larger heavier lock. Unfortunately my unit and three others were robbed, the two thieves cut the locks off with what appeared to be a cordless grinder, used my hand truck, and wheeled the stolen items out of range of the cameras. I lost about $4,000 of tools, but the Henniker Police, who were very helpful, found my stolen hand truck in nearby woods after watching the security camera footage with the Extra Space manager. In 40 years of periodic storage rental I have never been robbed. Perhaps a solid fence and better lighting would have helped.I can't help but wonder why this location and four units out of hundreds were chosen to rob. I packed up the rest of my stuff and moved it home. Why pay for storage if you may get robbed?
