Before it was even our turn, I found myself watching how he interacted with every customer ahead of us. He wasn’t just scanning items—he was genuinely connecting with people. Smiling, engaging, and making everyone feel welcome. That’s becoming a rare thing these days. By the time we reached the register, I told him, “Bro, you’re wasting your talents. You ought to be selling cars.” Without missing a beat, he smiled and replied, “Thank you very much, but I suppose I’m where I’m supposed to be.” That response stopped me in my tracks. I looked at him and simply said, “Amen, brother.” He carefully rang up every item, made sure we received every discount we qualified for, even pointed out things that were on sale that I hadn’t noticed. Before we left, he asked me my name, reached out, shook my hand, and wished us a blessed day. I returned the blessing, and we walked out smiling. My girlfriend later told me she was thinking the exact same thing I was—that this young man has an incredible gift for working with people. Preston, if you ever happen to read this, don’t lose what you’ve got. In a world where good customer service is becoming harder and harder to find, you reminded us what genuine kindness, professionalism, and character look like. We’ll absolutely be back to Hobby Lobby. The store is great, but people like Preston are what turn a shopping trip into something worth remembering. Hobby Lobby, take good care of this young man. Employees like him are hard to find.
