The store I go to on Bridford Avenue in Greensboro is clean, well-organized, and the sales folks are helpful and kind. If you are a minor or major arts & crafts person Hobby Lobby is your store. One of my hobbies is sewing. To my surprise they have fabrics and fabric supplies. Their sales are soooo good they make me giddy! Visit and have fun.

In fact, one of the things that has consistently stood out to me was the friendliness of the staff and the level of customer service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was very different. During this trip, I did not encounter a single associate who appeared welcoming, approachable, or interested in helping customers. Several employees seemed disengaged and gave the impression that they were unhappy to be there. As a customer, that atmosphere was noticeable and disappointing. The one exception was the manager. She was pleasant, professional, and made a point to acknowledge customers throughout the store. I observed her greeting people, offering assistance, and creating the kind of welcoming environment that I have come to expect from Hobby Lobby. She truly set a positive example. What prompted me to write this review was an interaction my husband and I had while trying to locate a specific item. We asked an associate where we could find it, and his response was simply, “It’s in the back of the store.” When my husband politely asked which aisle it was on or what section it was near, the associate shrugged his shoulders and offered no further assistance. We were left to search for it ourselves. Customer service doesn’t always require having every answer, but it does require a willingness to help. A simple “I’m not sure, but let’s find out” would have gone a long way. I understand that everyone has difficult days, and retail can be challenging. However, when nearly every employee a customer encounters appears uninterested or inconvenienced by basic questions, it impacts the overall shopping experience. I will continue shopping at Hobby Lobby because I enjoy the products and have had positive experiences in the past, but I hope management takes a closer look at employee engagement and customer service expectations. The manager on duty demonstrated exactly the kind of attitude that keeps customers coming back. It would be wonderful to see that same level of friendliness reflected throughout the entire store.
