  I had a great experience doing business with University Lights. I found the pricing to be fair, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the customer service superior. Sales associate Claire worked hard to understand my preferences and then researched and presented lighting options that were a fit and that worked together as a cohesive set. She provided excellent advice on the appropriate number, style and size of lights for each room and ordered the appropriate extras such as additional chain and rods for hanging lights and the correct lightbulbs for all my fixtures. Owner Jay was on hand to offer his extensive knowledge and design expertise during every stage of the project. Now installed, my new fixtures look wonderful and I could not be more pleased. Thank you, University Lights!

  Well, don't ask what, after decades of doing business here, has taken me so long to write a gleaming (if you will!!) review of the wonderful and reliable University Lights, but here goes! I am so grateful that this area iconic business is alive and thriving. Without a doubt, they have superior products and service. Through the years, I have primarily ordered chandeliers and sconces from University Lights in Durham. Time and time again, over my thirty years in the Chapel Hill, these folks have impressed me. Jay is a dynamo who knows EVERYTHING in the business and he has been a jewel to work with through the years!!! I love this store and wherever you are individually looking to enhance the lighting look in your home (or you are working with a designer), the showroom houses a variety of beauties and placing special orders are offered liberally. This morning, the cord of a floor lamp went south, so I headed directly over to University Lights. Even though they no longer do "shade business", God bless these folks, they took care of me and my lamp! Kirk cheerfully welcomed me as I entered the store and within minutes he had the cord issue addressed and corrected. It is such a pleasure to interact with talented, personable folks and I love "voting" with my business. I urge anyone to do business here! This is a fabulous local business and I am grateful to support it.

  I had a wonderful experience at UL. The lighting in my home is now beautiful and when there was one slight hiccup, the owner drove to my home 45 minutes away to deliver a part. I highly recommend them, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. You will be treated well and feel welcome.

  We were looking for some new lights fixtures and ceiling fans. We shopped around and we we settled on University Lights. We found their selection of fixtures available at the store was very good but they showed us various options online so we can make a good choice. Our salesperson, Kevin, was exceptional. He found the right fixtures for us and made solid recommendations. He was patient with us during the process and happy to make any changes that we needed. After making our selection Kevin kept us informed during the process. Overall, I found the selection and pricing to be excellent. The service was top shelf. I strongly recommend University Lights.
