Lowes has always been cool for a one-stop shop with all your DIY needs. This one is no different because they always have a selection of what you need for a quick repair or sprucing up the place with some upgrades. The reason I knocked off a ⭐ is the inability to find workers who are knowledgeable about the products or common tasks you might need to tackle. I have always had to rely on Google, YouTube, or the other customers in Lowes (don't sleep on talking to customers about your project in Lowe's...that's low key the cheat code 😅). The Lowes app is better at finding items than the employees 98% of the time I have asked, so that's usually my go to unless the app fails. The other star took a dive because for some reason the bathroom is always nasty when I pop in there...and that's unusual for me on the ladies side. I don't think I've been to an establishment in Starkville yet with a nasty women's bathroom so I guess there's a first time for everything.
UPDATE (6/4/2026):
I went to the garden section to grab some more soil from Lowes for some gardening projects the day before Memorial Day and was already too late. It was raining a bit, and if you've been out in gardening you know it's open for the plants to enjoy that quick sip. I'm not sure of the young man's name but he likes to where a bucket hat while he works. He was amazing! He acted as if the brain didn't bother him one hit and he took his time to make me feel welcomed and he could tell I looked disappointed after I missed out on the soil rush. He looked through his device to find out about another shipment and let me know there would be some in tomorrow. I ordered 20 bags online through the app that day and waited for the shipment. The next day I received my alert that pickup was ready. My wife and I drove over and parked in #2 for delivery and completed the checkin via the app. After about 30min of waiting without word, I went inside to customer support to ask about the incident. The young lady working that day stated that they were out of the soil. I explained that I had received notification for pickup. She stood there looking confused until miraculously the guy with the bucket hat appeared from around the corner with a dolly. He recognized me from yesterday and explained he wasn't sure of the system but he knows the dirt I was looking for hasn't came through just yet. He once again escalated what was surely about to become a unfavorable interaction. Once I left, I received a notification stating "Thank you for picking up your order". I called to the store to make sure they were aware this was incorrect and I had not been issued my order. The girl I spoke with before answered and stated she had to do that to clear the queue. She said she notated the account so I will still be able to get my order when it's in. The next day my wife had grown a bit frustrated because without the order correctly in the system, it meant WE would now be responsible for consistently calling and checking for our order. I'm an integration software engineer so I started thinking, "wait a minute, if she just marked us as picked up and added a note, there is no possible way a text field could trigger inventory fulfillment 😳". I headed over on my lunch break after we couldn't reach anyone by phone, and sure enough, there were a few bags left on the pallet of the soil we had ordered 😭. There were maybe 5 good ones and the other 4 or 5 looked to have been sliced and soil was leaking from the sides. My wife was furious so we walked over to customer support. I explained what had happened to a young woman named Caitlyn. She was very attentive and empathetic and quickly defused and resolved the situation by refunding me so she could correctly enter the order for tracking and then price matching so we could still receive our soil at the original sale price when we purchased it. We left with soil and was able to get our beds completed before more bad weather rolled in. Kudos to those 2 workers! I added a ⭐ due to their tremendous display of empathy and changing that experience for us.
