The 5 stars đŻ go solely to the staff at this OâFallon Extra Space Storage location. They truly go the extra mile and were the best part of my experience.
One person in particular was a newer manager whose name started with a âT.â He was extremely positive, helpful, and efficient. âT,â make sure you include your name in your emails in the future so people like me know exactly who to praise! đ
Unfortunately, the facility itself has a serious flaw when it comes to the climate-controlled units. Anything above the first floor has to be loaded into an elevator that customers cannot ride in. You load your belongings into the elevator, send them up to your floor, and then you have to climb the stairs to meet the elevator and unload everything. Then you have to repeat that process for every load.
For anyone who is older, has difficulty with stairs, or simply wants an easier moving experience, this setup can be extremely frustrating. Iâve used Extra Space Storage facilities in other states where you can ride the elevator up with your belongings, and those were much easier to use.
Because I could not manage the stairs, I had to choose an outdoor unit that was not climate controlled. The unit itself was clean and well cared for when I moved in, and I appreciate the staff for that. However, being an outdoor unit, it was not protected from bugs and spiders. I became nervous every time I opened my unit because I would see spiders above my head, and sometimes they would quickly crawl inside the unit.
So while I can absolutely give the STAFF at this OâFallon location 5 stars for their kindness, helpfulness, and excellent service, I cannot give the facilityâs design 5 stars. If the climate-controlled floors had elevators that customers could actually ride with their belongings, it would make a tremendous differenceâespecially for seniors and anyone with mobility limitations.

This place is great. Ty knows his stuff. Heâs been doing this a long time. Very helpful and accommodating too. If any issues arise (I had a bay door with a broken pull-rope that wouldnât budge up or down unless you he-manned it) theyâll come out on the spot and fix it (replaced the rope, oiled the tracks, springs and hinges). Will use again when I need to store more stuff.
