Be prepared to take several days off to get your appliance fixed! The following is a letter I wrote to St. Louis Appliance Repair. It is noteworthy that the initial service call was $177 and the tech was proud that a repeat call within 30 days was included. While I don’t begrudge a company their fair compensation, it took five appointment days to replace one part. Here is the letter: In mid-February, my husband called St. Louis Appliance Repair because our Bosch dishwasher gave us an E15 code. Your tech came out the next week, but had no diagnosis. The error code disappeared and we resumed normal use. Within a week, the E15 code reappeared. On visit two, your tech suggested that the code may have been triggered by a bad valve and that we could try replacing that. Oddly enough, the suggested Bosch valve was not stocked on your truck. As a “certified” Bosch repair vendor, I would have expected basic parts for basic repairs to be available for a service call. We rearranged schedules for a third appointment once your company received the valve. Your tech returned for the third appointment and opened the part box in our kitchen, only to find that the valve was damaged and unusable. After the new part arrived at St. Louis Appliance Repair, we rearranged our schedules for yet a fourth appointment. Near the tail end (4:15 p.m.) of the fourth scheduled appointment timeframe on April 7th, I got a phone call letting me know that St. Louis Appliance Repair will be a no-show that day. Our fifth scheduled appointment was on April 9th. The tech was finally able to install the new valve. I wrote a check for $187.45 as the tech indicated. (After writing that check, it dawned on me as to why your techs do not carry standard parts on their trucks.) The entire debacle left a sour taste in my mouth, but I decided to give myself a few days before writing online reviews of St. Louis Appliance Repair. The next day, I got a call from your tech asking if the dishwasher was working well. I thought it a nice touch until he came to the real reason for the call. Apparently, I somehow owed another $33.16 because of a clerical error. He said he could take my credit card number over the phone or stop by for another check. I opted to send the check along with a summary of events.

Repair man came out, didn’t look into an issue, assumed it was a pump. Ordered it. Came back and then need another part. Now 4 weeks plus without a dishwasher. During visit, the repair made inappropriate comments about quality of cabinets, install etc, which is ironic because he didn’t do his job right the first time. I asked him if overnighting a part was an option and he told me that was above his pay grade. Also doesnt wear protective booties that they’re guaranteed to wear. The agent at the store that I called was helpful, but imo because this was their fault I shouldn’t have to pay to overnight a part. Update: The repairman man disconnected a hose from our sink to the drain, which caused the water from my sink to flood bottom of my cabinet into floor and subfloor below. I was fortunate to catch it but had to remove kick board from cabinets. When contacting stl appliance repair, they ensured I’d get feedback from the manager (emailed photos), yet never did - even after following up and guaranteed a response. We did state the repairman was not allowed to service our house, which they did honor and sent an alternate. The new repair man came out today to install the parts to the dishwasher and in his final write up he said there was no damage. Well what he didn’t capture is all the work we did over the past week to get it cleaned up- removal of protective covering on cabinets, removed (and not replaced) kick board, fans that we ran to absorb the water, cost to have our contractor come out in emergency to address. Overall - the new repairman was much better but the lack of accountability by this company is unacceptable- we would only use because of warranty work. Beware of work done and check for leaks because of carlessness

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. St. Louis Appliance Repair sent Bob, a repairman, to diagnose the dryer that did not heat up. Dryer is an older model and part he diagnosed was discontinued. He knew the part needed to be removed to be replaced when used part was found. I paid $177.00 for a service call that wasn't completed. When I asked them to send him to come back and complete the service the company said I already had a bad feel about their competency and because of that they refused to come out and complete the job. The frint office is also rude. Now I have to call another appliance company and again have pay to complete the job. The serviceman kept complaining about his back and knees and did not want to take the time and trouble to complete the service call. I have since contacted PACE APPLIANCE and in two minutes diagnosed the problem which was an accumulation of more lint in the dryer, not the vent. All it took was a serviceman that knew what he was doing. This company St. Louis Appliance is a sham and a ripoff. They do not have servicemen that have any knowledge of a Maytag product and advertise to be a certified Maytag dealer. THEY ARE THE WORST.

We recently had our Maytag washing machine serviced by Jared from St. Louis Appliance Repair, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. After contacting several other repair companies, we were told the repair would not be covered under warranty and that they do not make service calls in St. Louis City. Jared not only came out promptly to diagnose the issue, but also determined that the needed repair was in fact covered under warranty — even though the machine is four years old. His honesty, professionalism, and knowledge was truly appreciated. It’s rare to find someone who goes the extra mile to advocate for the customer instead of just charging for a repair. We are so grateful for his integrity and outstanding service. I would highly recommend Jared and St. Louis Appliance Repair to anyone needing appliance service.
