Sarah was so helpful when it came to finding a recliner that was needed on a shorter notice and a little unplanned. She knew the store layout well and was able to locate what we found online and we ultimately purchased while giving us time to talk to one another without being overbearing. Fast and efficient purchase and Sarah’s friendliness made it a great day out for us!

I posted in late September about a couch delivered with massive stains. Well, the exchange happened today. The exchanged couch? Also damaged/poorly made. A massive “dent” in the fabric that almost looks like it wasn’t pulled/stretched or something heavy was resting against it (see pictures). No one actually looks to make sure these couches aren’t damaged. So another exchange scheduled for October 5. Well, just got a call (after the scheduled exchange appointment set up for Oct 5) that they no longer have this couch in stock. The customer service agent that set up the October 5 exchange “forgot” to look if the couch was in stock. HOM is a joke of a company. Stay. Away.

Our experience at HOM Furniture was exceptional! Our Design Consultant/Sales Representative, Trish B. was such a competent, helpful and personable person!! She was so helpful and made our shopping experience not only very successful, but enjoyable and fun as well! She paid great attention to the details of our order to be sure we would receive the correct product! We feel she went above and beyond in helping us choose the matching color and fabric we were looking for... All in all, thank you, Trish, for a great shopping experiece!!

Ordered couch through HOM Woodbury. Ordering process without issues. While ordering, I was told I would be given a two hour window. I was not told that I wouldn’t be given that window until 2 days before. Took the day off from work for a two hour window in which they will not be flexible on. Fine. Furniture arrived at 0830. Unpacking and it was found to have significant stains. “White glove” service was paid for. These guys were worthless. They told me I could either accept and “they think” I would get a new piece but didn’t know if I would be charged delivery fee again. Otherwise, they informed me I could send furniture back. I said I can keep but just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be charged again. He just kept saying “I’m just the delivery guy, I have no idea.” HOM store was closed so unable to call sales person. Finally he said we could call customer service. How does damaged furniture direct from the factory make it all the way to my house without recognition? And how do the delivery guys not know the options? They tried to force me to decide without knowing my actual options. I would not buy from HOM again.

I had an extremely uncomfortable shopping experience at the HOM Furniture store in Oakdale around 6:30 p.m. today. My mother, brother, and I came in to shop for a new couch for my brother’s apartment. We were initially greeted warmly, but shortly afterward, a female employee began repeatedly following us through the store. After my mother asked another employee where the elevator was, we headed toward the Dock 86 section. On our way to the elevator, this employee walked parallel to us from approximately 25 feet away. We took the elevator to the second floor, and when the doors opened, we saw her coming up the stairs. Her behavior was already making me uncomfortable, so I intentionally walked in the opposite direction. About five minutes later, she appeared in our area and asked whether we needed help. We declined, and she said she would be nearby if we needed anything. We moved to another section of the second floor, but she continued following us from a distance. She did not appear to approach or assist any of the other customers shopping upstairs. When we returned to the area near the elevators, she approached us again. We declined her help and told her we would be heading downstairs in a few minutes. When we stepped off the elevator downstairs and turned the corner, she was coming off the final stair. As we continued looking at couches downstairs, she repeatedly walked parallel to us, remaining approximately 25 to 30 feet away while we discussed colors, fabrics, and textures. When we began seriously considering a couch, she came around the corner and approached us again. At that point, I told her, “Following the only Black people around the store is definitely not a way to secure your commission.” She did not hear me the first time, so I repeated myself. She responded that she did not mean to make us feel that way and said, “You are my assigned secret shoppers.” I explained that I have shopped at multiple HOM Furniture locations and have never had an employee follow me around like this. Even after I directly told her that her behavior made us uncomfortable, she stood at a computer about ten feet away and continued watching us. When we moved to another area, she followed us again and watched us leave without making a purchase. Whether this was racial profiling or an overly aggressive sales practice, the impact was the same: my family and I felt singled out, monitored, and unwelcome. Her explanation that we were her “assigned secret shoppers” did not make the situation clearer or more appropriate. I wish I had spoken with a manager before leaving, but I was concerned that she might have been the manager. This was one of the most uncomfortable shopping experiences I have had in a long time. We left without purchasing the couch we were seriously considering, and this experience has made me reconsider shopping at HOM Furniture in the future.
