My family and I live in Clare and are relatively new to the Mid-Michigan area, so we typically shop at hardware stores closer to home. However, the Midland Lowe’s has absolutely won us over, and the outstanding customer service is well worth the 30-minute drive.
This was only our second visit to this location, and I want to recognize the exceptional staff we encountered during both visits. Store Manager Josh provided remarkable assistance each time and truly made a difference with his professionalism and support, along with Eric, who assisted us in our appliance purchase today. Jeremy from the Doors and Windows department, and Linda from the Paint department, also shared excellent advice for my whisky barrel and patio deck touch-ups. They were all incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Jarrod from the lumber department deserves a special shoutout for leaving a lasting impression. During my first visit on Tuesday, May 12th, I had the pleasure of speaking with him regarding a fireplace mantel project I’m in the middle of. From the very beginning, Jarrod provided exceptional customer service, going above and beyond in every way. He took the time to explain the differences between treated and untreated wood, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and made sure I understood the potential safety concerns of selecting the wrong material for my project. What truly stood out was his genuine kindness, patience, and dedication to helping customers, as he even called a neighboring store in Bay City from his personal phone to check if they had the exact size and type of wood I needed. Throughout the entire interaction, he never made me feel rushed and consistently showed professionalism. Without his guidance, I definitely would have purchased the wrong material, which could have created a safety issue in my home. I’m incredibly grateful for the time, effort, and care he put into helping me.
While I don’t often leave reviews, experiences like this deserve recognition. You never know what someone may be going through personally, and simple acts of patience, kindness, and genuine care can have a profound impact. Lowe’s is fortunate to have someone like Jarrod representing their company, and I sincerely hope he receives the recognition he deserves!

We got most of what we needed this time. Though with self checkout stations being all that was available, the staff gave some piercing glares when I just stood there with two carts full of purchases ready to "have them scanned by an employee, which I am NOT". Person did it, eventually with an additude. Come on Lowe's we can do better.

Word of Wisdom whatever you do do not purchase Pella Windows I've had problems from D1 Lowe's did not want to help me. Pella Window Corporation just give you a run-around you cannot communicate with them they have too many excuses they do not want to admit to their problems for instant they write out within a couple years daily leaked like no other they let bugs in constantly they do not hold heat or retract furnace runs constantly now during the winter months the AC runs and can't keep up during the summer months they are full of mold from leaking even on the outside they have icicles growing from losing the heat Exedra do not trust Pella Windows or purchase them.
