If I could possibly rate this business a ZERO, I would. My experience began pleasant enough with the purchase of a $2000 "Oscar" leather sofa. Prior to purchasing the item I expressed concern about delivery as I've been told by several prior customers they have had items arrive damaged. I was told the sofa would be inspected prior to delivery and that notifications would be sent to ensure that happened. It never did and store officials later acknowledged that. Delivery was promised and executed several days later in a timely fashion. The product was delivered unopened and left in place. Upon opening the packaging, I found ALL THREE seat cushions scraped in areas to natural bare leather, two seat back cushions were scarred as well. Both back cushions corners were crushed with the leather so badly crumpled that it was sharply creased and permanently mis-shapen. The store was called and due to a tight timeline of travel that I had- a second item was delivered that afternoon. Upon arrival THAT item was damage with wrinkled poor quality leather on one seat back. Both delivery men were apologetic and advised this happens all the time from items being stored on end and crushed together in the warehouse. Delivery representatives stated that they wouldn't accept either product as well, but noted they could not take both sofas back. Family who viewed the first sofa were shocked the item was even sent. Upon refusing the second couch I called the store and advised them of the situation. Having now wasted an ENTIRE DAY on this matter- the phone representative had the audacity to advise they'd have to reschedule a pick up date knowing I was traveling, and also CHARGE ME A RESTOCKING FEE!! When I asked to speak to a manager I was refused. The call taker advised she was speaking for the manager and therefore had the authority of the manager! Upon hearing this I literally drove the 30 minutes to the store and spoke with the desk representative. After a very civil and polite discussion with both kind ladies, one in particular (forgot to get here name) handled the matter, advised there would be no restocking fee (Seriously??? An extortion-like restocking fee threat?!!), and coordinated pick-up of the item for the following morning. While all people that I dealt with in person were helpful and friendly- the wasted day, ridiculously poor product quality, lack of initial cooperation to help return the damaged items, and threat of a 25% restocking fee for TWO damaged items was BEYOND unacceptable! Because of this experience I will NEVER shop at Gardner White ever again, and will share this completely unacceptable experience far and wide. THE WORST retail experience ever!

One the most horrible experience buying a bedroom set as a Previous furniture salesperson for Scott Shuptrine many years ago and understanding good customer service and the process. Saturday June 27, 2026 I go to Gardner White in Auburn Hills looking for a bedroom set. My salesman, Skyler Alexander appeared to be nice and helpful but I discover later I was wrong. I purchased a clearance set 'As is' I am fine with that we finish the paperwork I pay them for the set and a new Mattress and leave. Skyler promised me a Monday Delivery only to conveniently call me after I had left to tell me Monday was full and it had to be Tuesday. Keep in mind he had already looked at the schedule so he knew what was open and not at the very beginning. He Should have told me the truth but ok. Delivery occurs today Tuesday June 30 in the am. The delivery guys arrive and unload the truck but one piece, the dresser is not wrapped and not protected as Skyler had guaranteed me after I bought the furniture. The delivery guys were careless, they dragged the dresser across the cement front porch and pulled out the plastic foot, bent the nail, and worse their careless bevaior damaged the dresser and a chunk of the press board came off. I saw it drop off right away and told the delivery drivers. They tried to claim 'As is' but 'As Is' doesn't mean even if we damage it bringing it into your home. I called Skyler right away and he seemed to care but he never called back all day. I called again 5 hours later and couldn't reach him so I spoke with another rep. Meanwhile I sent Skyler another email, he already had the pictures from 10:15am. Now he has more information. No call back. At this point Gardner White offers to repair the damaged dresser. If you understand Pressboard, you cannot repair it to hold as the slightest bump will knock off the piece again. They offer to give me a very small amount back for the dresser they will keep but then I have an incomplete set. They refuse to take back the merchandise because it was a floor sample 'As is' ..However that floor sample was damaged by their delivery people and they want the same rules to apply? I will be happy to update this review if Gardner White and Skyler Alexander make it right , however it they do not the review will remain. I have further steps already in place if they do not make this situation right. I only ask for what is fair. I will not recommend using them to anyone , there are so many other furniture places that will probably treat you better and probably offer a better experience.

I contacted the store in advance and was informed that multiple units of the mattress were available for same-day pickup. After arriving, I went through the process of applying for and obtaining the store credit card. However, immediately afterward, I was informed that the mattress was no longer in stock and unavailable for purchase that day. I wasted an hour driving to this place. Good news is I found the same bed on sale down the street in stock.

I would probably never shop at Gardner White again based on my recent experience or lack of one. I purchased a beautiful king-size bed, but it arrived with several imperfections. I made multiple calls to have the issue resolved, and every time I was told someone would call me back. It’s now been almost two months, and I still haven’t received a single return call. When you spend thousands of dollars on furniture, you expect quality customer service and for issues to be addressed promptly. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been my experience. I had every intention of furnishing my entire home with Gardner White, but I’ve quickly changed my mind after this experience. If this is how existing customers are treated, I can’t justify making another major purchase here. Very disappointed. ART VAN would never!

Ridiculous return policy, predatory in my opinion. I ordered the dream sofa in a “custom color.” It came in and looks nothing like the swatch in the store, and feels itchy and cheap, which is crazy considering the price. The cushions are hard and uncomfortable. There was a staple sticking out that cut my husbands foot. Customers service told me they are not willing to refund or exchange it. After years of shopping here, we will not be coming back to GW. You’re better off trying your luck on Temu.
