My spouse and I have been loyal Lowe’s…
My spouse and I have been loyal Lowe’s customers for many years and have spent approximately $80,000 there over the past year on home improvements. Because of that relationship, we chose Lowe’s for our next project: a flower garden requiring 200 plants.
Before making the purchase, we met with the store manager, showed him a photo of the project, and asked whether Lowe’s would offer a volume discount. After reviewing our project and purchase history, he agreed to a specific percentage discount. We then began buying shrubs and plants based on that commitment.
After we had already made purchases of 100 plants costing $1500, we were told the discount would not be honored. This was disappointing and left us without the opportunity to make an informed decision about where to buy the remaining plants.
This issue is not only about the discount. It is about honoring commitments made to customers. We relied on the manager’s word, and the later reversal damaged the trust we had built with Lowe’s over many years.
We understand that policies can change and misunderstandings can occur. However, when a manager makes a clear commitment to a customer making a substantial purchase, that commitment should be honored or resolved fairly.
We have always preferred Lowe’s and have recommended your stores to others. This experience has left us feeling that our loyalty was not valued.
I respectfully ask Lowe’s Corporate to review this matter and consider an appropriate resolution. At a minimum, I hope this will lead to better communication and accountability so other loyal customers are not treated similarly.
The (cashier)while waiting over 1hour to speak with the manager was rude , amongst other shoppers as well, proceeded to say she had once a business of her own . Then to ask why we think we deserve any discount. Asking “what about that little old lady that wants to buy a couple plants” Sharing her opinion, which is not her place to do so . Then adding”many people spend money here, not just you !!! Also she stated ,” You planted all previous plants in this heat , you’re going to kill them. While other shoppers were checking out at the other near register listening to her give me “her opinion “ . She , overstepping , rudeness, nearly argumentative. Going in to make a purchase … I didn’t ask nor deserve her her opinion or consent on any level of her attitude towards us.

Curbside pickup is pretty slow. I could have driven to the store from my house, picked up everything I needed, gotten back home, and started my project in the time it took for the staff to finish picking my order. It was 10 small items that could've easily been carried without a cart

I made an online order for rails and posts. The delivery date was changed repeatedly. In the end, only the rails arrived, posts didn't. But I have been charged delivery fee.
