We've had a subscription with Brody Brothers for a few years through our landlord, and they are a professional and communicative team, but unfortunately don't stick the landing.
- Brody Brothers comes to our home for quarterly treatment for general pests, and our house is still constantly ridden with carpet beetles, oriental roaches, ants, and spider beetles.
- We had a several-month long mouse problem that got to the point of seeing a mouse run across the floor in broad daylight on a regular basis and finding droppings daily. Every time Brody Brothers came out, they sent a new technician that wasn't familiar with our place, and identified new gaps to fill. Why did every technician miss gaps then? This didn't solve the problem.
- Brody Brothers incorrectly identified a bug as a June Beetle twice when I told them it looked like a bed bug. After a third instance of my insistence it looked like a bed bug, they agreed and scheduled a date 5 days later (3 business days) for an inspection. This was too long for us to wait actively seeing the bugs in the home so we sought a different company.
- Once the other company identified the bugs as bat bugs and confirmed we actually had bats in the home, wildlife handled the bats, and we called Brody Brothers to help treat the home for the remaining bugs. They flat out said they can't treat for bat bugs, even when I asked if they could just apply pesticide around the home, they said no.
I want to say I've had a good experience with Brody Brothers as they are a professional and reliable team, but when I run the numbers of every pest issue they've come out for, none have been resolved.

My one year contract for mice control comes to an end this month. Service is always thorough and technician Ty is very professional and knowledgeable.
The only negative is poor communication within the office. I booked my appointment 3 weeks ago and requested a first appointment at 8AM because of an appointment I have at 10AM. The office said no problem especially since I was booking the appointment so far in advance. At 8:30 today I call the office because nobody has shown up. I was told that I am second on the list so probably between 9 and 10AM. I am told that the schedule is made morning of depending on technician route so the request to be first means nothing. I was also told that the first appointment is 2 miles away from my home. They seriously can't rearrange a schedule 2 miles away. Disappointed. It's 9AM now, and still waiting for the technician.

I decided to switch from my current quarterly pest control provider to Brody Brothers because they came highly recommended and offered additional services, including sealing holes in my basement stone walls where pests might be entering.
Unfortunately, my experience ended before the service even began. I scheduled an initial appointment for today with a 2:00–4:00 PM arrival window and took time off work to be home for the visit. However, I received a call the morning of the appointment informing me that they would not be able to come due to other service calls in my area.
While I understand that scheduling challenges and unexpected issues can arise, the same-day cancellation was disappointing, especially since I am leaving town this evening and specifically wanted the service completed before my trip. The next available opportunity would not work with my schedule, so I decided not to move forward.
Because the appointment never took place, I can't comment on the quality of their actual pest control services. My review is based solely on the scheduling and customer service experience, which unfortunately did not meet my expectations.

Brody Services failed to deliver the solution I contracted them for, misrepresented their methods, and ultimately banned me as a customer for canceling a contract that they themselves assured me I could end if the problem persisted.
Because of our home’s location, field mice are expected, but they began entering our home in significant numbers. We used traps and disposed of them ourselves but wanted a professional solution. Before signing a one-year contract with Brody, I explicitly asked whether I could cancel within the first year if the issue continued. Their answer was "yes".
After signing, the representative told me that “mice communicate with each other,” implying they learn trap locations and warn others. My husband, who grew up in the country, immediately dismissed this as nonsense. I told her I did not sign a one-year contract to be told the only solution was moving traps around.
Their first service confirmed my concern: they simply took my traps, moved them around, and placed a few of their own—sometimes directly next to mine. They did not treat the issue, did not seal entry points, and did not provide any professional intervention beyond what we were already doing ourselves. Meanwhile, mice continued entering under the garage door, which Brody claimed they would a replace a liner that should resolve it. Later, they said the part was on backorder. It never arrived.
They should have disclosed upfront that:
• They planned to rely on trap moving rather than actual treatment.
• The garage door guard was unavailable.
• They could not realistically prevent mice from entering given our location.
• A one-year contract would not add value.
Instead, I was misled into a contract that provided no meaningful service. I canceled because they were dishonest, ineffective, and did nothing beyond what we were already doing. Canceling was not an attempt to cause trouble, it was a response to poor service and there was no intent of a bad review as I believe businesses make errors however...
Fast forward to today: we have an annual ant issue and wanted a one-time treatment. This is a bit different than a mouse concern and more likely to have an effective solution. I called Brody for a quote (along with a few other pest control businesses), explained that the mouse service had not worked out, and after being placed on hold was told I am banned from receiving Brody services because I canceled a contract early—despite being told I could. I never spoke badly about Brody and even sent them a customer who I will now be sharing this experience with.
This is unprofessional, retaliatory, and a clear warning to others to not sign a contract with Brody unless you receive a written guarantee that their services will fully resolve your issue and that you will not be banned if you have sufficient reason to cancel. I was kind, understanding and I also failed to mention, they had a billing concern too, so they had to apply the overcharge to a future visit, but what if I had not caught that overcharge?
I was not going to give this review until the representative on the phone told me good luck in the future in a condescending tone when all I asked was for her to pass along my feedback. So this should better get their attention.
They were dishonest, ineffective, and punitive when held accountable. I'm no longer able to support this business.
Frequently Asked Questions About Brody Brothers Pest Control in Owings Mills
What is your pest treatment approach?
We conduct an inspection, assessment and design a targeted plan based on our IPM – Integrated Pest Management approach. IPM uses current pest control methods to eliminate pests with the lowest possible hazard to people, your property and the environment.
The treatment we suggest would depend on many factors, such as your location, the pest’s habits and lifecycle, time of the year, as well as any unique circumstances. We offer tailored solutions to each customer and apply the least toxic, yet effective treatments first. The safety of your family, children and pets is our #1 priority.
What is our success rate on pest treatment?
Brody Brothers Pest Control has been family-owned and operated for more than 30 years with experience you can count on. Your pest issues will be well taken care of.
We have the right products and services to fit all your home or business needs. If you are looking for a reliable pest management company to help keep pests away year around, take a look at our home protection plan.
What specific pesticides will you apply and are they safe?
We use the most effective and least toxic products that will solve your pest problem. We have a variety of materials in our arsenal, including natural and reduced-risk products, but there is no single, universal product that we use – it all depends on the pest and other circumstances.
It’s important to note that there is no pesticide that is non-toxic. If there was, it wouldn’t kill any pest. However, we do our best to minimize your exposure to toxins and indoor air pollution, while doing our job effectively.
Will my family need to leave the house during pest treatment?
On rare occasions and only with certain pests (e.g. fleas), could there be a need for family members to leave the home. In most situations, you can stay.
What does a pest control tech look for when inspecting my home?
Everything. When we perform an inspection, we are not just looking for pests but also for the places where they live and feed. For a successful treatment it’s important to identify any conditions that would support or attract a pest.
Some of the indoor areas we might inspect include underneath dishwashers, behind stoves, unfinished parts of the home like crawl spaces, attics, basements, garages and any other areas of concern.
While inspecting the exterior perimeter of your home, we specifically look for pest entry points that we can seal up. We also inspect secondary areas like sheds, pools, mulch beds, playsets, mailboxes or any other area that could be a problem.
*Does a tech need to treat the inside and outside of my home on every quarterly pest visit?
Generally no. We perform quarterly service to help prevent pests that might be tempted to enter your home due to seasonal weather changes in Maryland. This helps us stop the pest infestation before the issue gets worse.
We recommend that the interior is checked once a year for any pests, especially termites. This service is usually performed in the winter months when pest pressure is low outside and it gives our technician time to take a good look at the interior of your home.
We understand that each home is different, and we’ll be happy to tailor a plan to better meet your needs.
*Only for customers on our Home Protection Plan
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we are fully licensed, bonded and insured. All of our technicians are licensed by the State of Maryland and Quality Pro certified.
All have had a criminal background check and ongoing drug tests are performed. They have gone through a full-time, 2-month training program and continue to receive an ongoing training, complete with bi-weekly testing.
Most importantly, our technicians are people who care about others and are pleasant to deal with. Are you on Angie’s List? Brody Brothers has been awarded Angie’s List Super Service Award 9 different times!
Take a look at our reviews and learn why your neighbors trust our service.
What areas do you service?
We service the central Maryland region, including Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Harford County, Carroll County, and Howard County, and the communities in which we operate include – but are not limited to – Pikesville, Baltimore, Roland Park, Towson, Owings Mills, Lutherville Timonium, Cockeysville, Reisterstown, Sykesville, Catonsville, Ellicott City, Marriottsville, Woodstock, Columbia, Clarksville, Highland, Phoenix, Fulton, and Westminster.
Does your treatment work?
We guarantee that you will experience a huge reduction in the mosquito and/or tick populations on your property (85-90 percent) if you use our services. If a seasonal contract holder has a mosquito or tick problem between his/her regularly scheduled treatment service, we will come out to take care of it.
Does post-treatment rain have negative effects?
Our formula dries within about 30 minutes after deployment and binds to surfaces, making it hard to be washed away. Furthermore, the targeted areas are the undersides of leaves. Both of these facts make it hard for rain to be a significant problem in reducing treatment effectiveness.
What if I treat, but my neighbor doesn’t?
While it is true that mosquitoes are not held back by fences, our treatment creates a virtual barrier that strongly discourages mosquitoes from entering. Given that mosquitoes are poor fliers, if they do enter, they are likely to rest on a shrub along the outskirts of your property and die shortly after landing to rest or feed on plant glucose.
What types of chemicals do you employ?
We use both natural and synthetic products, all of which are registered with the EPA.
Can my kids and pets be outside during treatment?
For our synthetic formulas, children and pets should be kept out of the yard for about 30 minutes after treatment. Although the official instructions for our natural treatment allow for children and pets to be outside during deployment, we recommend keeping them inside until about 30 minutes afterward as well.
Will your treatment harm my garden and plants?
Our treatment will not harm your landscaping plants. In general, we try to avoid spraying any edible garden vegetables. That said, SWAT Team treatment employs products often used in commercial agriculture. Just as it is widely recommended to properly wash produce that was grown commercially and purchased from a grocery store, so too we recommend that you properly wash your garden vegetables before consumption.
Are you licensed?
Yes. We have obtained all legally required licenses, and we are insured.
When will I know you’re coming?
We will remind you at least 24 hours before your previously scheduled treatment. If you need to reschedule for any reason but forget to do so prior to our email or call, let us know at this point.
Do I need to be home during the treatment(s)?
No, you don’t have to be home. We will simply leave you a notice informing you that we have completed your scheduled service.
Do I need to schedule your service every 21 days?
Once you have established a contract with us, there is no need to continuously schedule our service every 21 days. We will send you an email to notify you of when we will come to administer your treatment, and we will leave a notice on your door afterward (if you are not at home at the time).
Should I rely on this information to determine whether I have a vector-borne disease?
Absolutely not. Talk to a doctor if you are worried you, someone else, or a pet has contracted a vector-borne disease. We do not claim to be a definitive source of medical information, and we do not claim to have complete or authoritative lists or descriptions of symptoms or information on treatment.
Are you guys cool?
Yes. We are most definitely awesome.
