I wanted to share feedback about my recent experience with the paint department at Lowe’s.
I hired and paid someone to paint my basement and also touch up a few areas in my home that had recently been repaired. He spent the whole evening doing the painting. Because I needed the touch-up areas to match my existing walls, I brought the exact paint code from my previous paint to Lowe’s and purchased two gallons.
After the painting was completed, I noticed that some areas looked noticeably different from the existing walls. At first, I thought the paint simply needed more time to dry, so I waited. Unfortunately, even after it dried, the difference was still very obvious, as you can see in the photos.
By the time I realized there was a problem, one of the two gallons had already been completely used. I brought the remaining gallon back to Lowe’s with my receipt, and Lowe’s refunded that one gallon. I completely understood that the gallon that had already been used could not be returned, and I was fine with that.
I first spoke with an employee in the paint department who was very kind, patient, and helpful. Later, the employee who had mixed my paint the previous day came over and spoke with my boyfriend. He explained that he had followed the paint code I provided. I understand that he may have followed the code correctly, but the paint came out with a different color/name and did not match my original paint.
What disappointed me most was not simply that the paint did not match, but the way the situation was handled. When I explained that the paint had already been applied throughout my basement and used to touch up several areas in my home, his response was, “Just paint it again.”
I found that response very disappointing. I had already paid someone who spent the whole evening doing the painting, so repainting everything is not as simple as it sounds. I was not expecting anything unreasonable. I simply hoped for some understanding and a sincere apology for the inconvenience. Instead, his response and attitude felt dismissive and defensive.
If I had been told when the paint was mixed that, even though the code was the same, the resulting paint had a different color/name and might not match my existing walls, I would not have purchased or used it. That information would have saved a lot of time, work, and frustration.
I also want to especially recognize the first employee who helped me that day. He was very kind, professional, and understanding throughout the situation. After everything happened, he came back and mixed two new gallons for me so I could correct the problem. I was fully prepared to pay for the new paint, but in the end, he offered both gallons to me at no charge. I was genuinely grateful for his kindness and for the way he handled the situation. His professionalism made a frustrating experience much better.
I am not asking for any additional compensation. I simply wanted to share my experience and recognize the employee who went out of his way to help me. I also hope this feedback can help prevent another customer from having the same experience in the future.

I used to prefer this company over the other big one, but no longer. Your installation of Flock cameras is the single contributor to this. Absolutely mind boggling that lowes would have any part in this. The people are watching and we're fed up. Lowes is now part of the surveillance state. How weird is that?
