- SWScott WardJul 13, 20264.0It's nice having such a comprehensive garden center so close to the city. I visit this location a few times each year. Overall I have been very satisfied with my past experiences regarding both product and personnel. I purchase a few bags of hemlock mulch each year. The past few years, since the changeover to the "Rooted" brand, the mulch quality has declined. Unlike the prior product, the current bagged hemlock mulch contains quarter inch chips of GRAVEL. This was not the case before the changeover and my experience was not a one off; gravel has been present for several yearly buys. Yup, even though I was disappointed buying a lesser quality product, I went back each successive year HOPING the mulch would be void of STONE MATERIAL. Since it appears having gravel in Mahoney's private branded mulch is not an aberration, I will no longer purchase this product and I will venture to a competitor. Bummer.

But- if you want to support a local gem with a staff that truly cares for the plants, has fair prices, and an extremely large selection of plants & outdoor products, go here!

However, the past 3 recent visits, the workers lack the customer service and friendliness when I politely ask questions. I returned an item which I believe had to go through a manager - he didn’t acknowledge me and acted like it was a pain to do. I have spend a lot over the years here and sadly these experiences has not made feel good leaving or continuing my business here. I hope Mahoneys can improve their customer service.
