  I actually took my first review down because I wanted to give grace. Everybody has bad days, and I didn’t want one interaction to define anyone. Unfortunately, after my experience with General Manager Randy today, I feel like I need to share what happened. I came into the store for one simple reason: to get installation pricing for a garage storage system I had already spent thousands of dollars on. I waited over 15 minutes to speak with Randy, and when he finally came over, his attitude felt rude, dismissive, and confrontational from the start. He told me he would not speak with me while I was wearing my Ray Ban smart glasses. I immediately removed them because my goal was simply to get help and move forward with scheduling installation. Even after I complied, he continued talking over me and never clearly answered the question I came in for, which was what the installation price would be. My 17 year old son witnessed the interaction and became upset by the way I was being spoken to. Randy then told him to leave the store. While I understand stores have rules regarding customer conduct, I felt the situation could have been handled much more professionally. What stood out most was watching Randy interact pleasantly with other customers while treating me as if helping me was an inconvenience. I wasn’t asking for a favor, a discount, or special treatment. I was trying to pay for a service connected to a purchase worth thousands of dollars. I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and frustrated. Customer service should be about helping customers find solutions, not making them feel unwelcome for asking questions. I gave grace the first time and removed my original review. After today, I honestly wish I hadn’t.

  I visited the Overland Park store today and had a bad experience. I was waiting in line to pay for my items and just as the sales associate came over to help, another customer just jumped in line in font of me, muttering something about having already waited in line. I don’t think this was right because I had been standing in line waiting for about 5-6 minutes and he had NOT been in that line. The sales associate saw the whole exchange and she didn’t correct his behavior. She should have asked him to wait his turn. I continued to wait and neither he nor the sales associate knew what to charge for his item. It really made me mad because I think that he was given priority because he was making a larger purchase. It was was rude. I ended up leaving my cart there and not making the purchase. I’ve been a regular customer and live 3 minutes from the store . I will never return to The Container Store ever again.
