  Bad service today from the lady at customer service and manager Lance. Although I didn’t catch her name, the lady was very rude from the beginning for no reason. She threw my ID on the counter after I had nicely given it to her in her hand while I was trying to make a payment. I brought in the Lowe’s bill with the balance but she had insisted my balance was 0 and she refused to check my bill and told me “she was not stupid.” I asked nicely for the manager and the manager Lance came and looked at the screen and made the same assumption without verifying or looking at my bill. I insisted there’s a payment due so that I’m not charged a late fee. Anyway I called customer service while I’m at the store and I put the representative from customer service on speaker and the representative had to tell Lance what to do so that he can resolve my issue. After finally listening And taking my information Lance saw that I was correct and I was able to make the payment. He could have looked at the information or my bill first and that would have avoided any issue and wasted our time. A quick trip was turned into an over half hour issue that wasted everyone’s time.I don’t appreciate the service I received today very poor and unprofessional.

  Ben, a manager, took care of me tonight. I came to the store from a far distance to buy several rolls of insulation that I saw displayed on their website for 18.97. When I arrived we couldn’t find the same item because this location didn’t carry it. I was quite a bit annoyed because I screenshot the item and it was $4.50 less than the other. Ben immediately assured me he would make the price adjustment on each item. He loaded up the big cart and packed the items in my car. I was amazed at his diligence, kindness, customer service and genuine natural ability to lead. It’s people like Ben who remind you of how a customer should be valued. That’s exactly how Ben treated me, like my business with Lowes mattered. He did everything right. Even when I was driving away I saw him picking up plastic that someone let get away in the parking lot. He is a gem and an honorable man. I value him.

  Customer service is nonexistent and negative. Back in the day, employees like Beverly actually cared about the customers who walked in. They were creative and thoughtful, and they had us coming back for years. Kitchens, appliances, tile, paint, design, etc. Now they got people like the George Castanza-looking guy by the generators today, yelling at customers. Rude, unprofessional, and flat-out clueless in his craft. On top of overhearing, he gave the most unskilled advice regarding generators; he stammered about the safety of the pallets he and Lowe's employees logistically laid out for customers to get "hurt". The irony of Lowe's own doing. Go anywhere else, and this isn't an issue at all. Even in a local weather crisis, I walked out and will never come back to this location. This isn't the first time, either; it's the culture.

  This review is coming on the hills of the major power outage August 2026. I went to two different Lowe’s for a generator and the Schererville one is, by far, the good one. We originally went to Lowe’s In Schererville and purchased a tri-fuel Firman generator. We stood in line for 3.5 hours. They let people pull chairs from all over lawn & garden at the Schererville Lowe’s to make the wait bearable. They brought out cold water. They weren’t yelling, just keeping us informed. The energy was calm, though staff was moving as fast as they could. They handled it beautifully. I know that businesses usually have standard operations. What Lowe’s Schererville did probably was nothing standard. They were ordering round the clock generators from other states and unloading them straight from the trucks into people’s cars with forklifts. It was smooth and organized. You didn’t really know what generator you were getting until you got to the cashier, which kinda sucked. But, we paid, then were sent outside. They had an assembly line set up outside. A man checked your receipt, waved us through, then they put the generator in our trunk without us even getting out. It was flawless. Yes, we had to wait! But, the wait was made bearable by the staff at the Schererville Lowe’s. An older, bald, black staff member was the kindest and most informative. When we got the first generator home and put gas in it, the gas ran right out when turned on. I looked it up and this has happened to others with a Firman, right out of the box. Not Lowe’s fault. We happened to have propane and made it work, although the generator seemed faulty in other ways. The very next day, we bought a brand new Westinghouse generator from Lowe’s Merrillville. We couldn’t immediately bring back the first one because it was powering our house. We swapped them out and took the first one to our local Merrillville Lowe’s within the 48 hour window. They immediately treated us with suspicion. They asked if we put gas in it and said they weren’t taking it back if we did. How would we know it was faulty without the gas added? They at least suggested that we take it to Schererville, stating that they might be able to “override the policy” since we purchased it there. We took it to the Schererville Lowe’s and basically no questions asked, they took it back. My nervous system was a wreck thinking I was about to be in for a battle. The original generator was also $1,000, which I see now was a little overpriced. I know it’s not easy to stay calm in a crisis, but the energy you give off is the energy you create. Literally, every customer in the lines in both stores were calm, supportive, and friendly when I was there. I am so proud of Northwest Indiana! Schererville Lowe’s kept the mood light and operated with efficiency. You can tell they have strong leadership. The way they handled that night made you think they had been loading emergency equipment off trucks in the dead of night for years! Well done!

  Staff said that at 9 or 10 a truck of generators are on the way. After waiting until 1130 they rolled out 6. Then said another truck was an hour away. Finally got one right at 2pm. And staff kept saying no eta. The one older lady was rude and mean. I think her name was deangelio(she should not be anywhere near customers who are making a large purchase for your company) we all waited and dropped over 1,000. Dollars each. And they had no communication within the building or drivers and couldnt update the customers just had us waiting for hours.. will not be buying from here again..the only nice thing was they gave water. But geesh get it together people.. the loading crew were amazing...
