  If i could give ZERO stars, I would. Got a dish washer delivered and it was dented twice. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and accepted it and they actually gave us some $ back for it. Then went to install it, and NO INSTALLATION HARDWARE! Called to tell them and ask to have it either delivered or if we could pick it up. Got calls redirected upwards of 5 times just for someone to say "well you didnt purchase installation hardware". No no no I purchased a brand new dish washer WITH everything included. Went to the store and even talked to them. Didn't have anything they could do. So we said "well then pick it up and give me a full refund. We will be taking our business to hone depot for the same dish washer WITH all the parts included". Absolutely disgraceful customer service. Will never shop there again.

  This review is coming on the hills of the major power outage August 2026. I went to two different Lowe’s for a generator and the Merrillville one is, by far, the bad one. We originally went to Lowe’s In Schererville and purchased a $999 tri-fuel Firman generator. We stood in line for 3.5 hours. They let people pull chairs from all over lawn & garden at the Schererville Lowe’s to make the wait bearable. They brought out cold water. They weren’t yelling, just keeping us informed. The energy was calm, though staff was moving as fast as they could. They were giving us generators straight off the truck using forklifts. It was impressive. They handled it beautifully and I will be writing a review for them as well! When we got the first generator home and put gas in it, the gas ran right out when turned on. I looked it up and this has happened to others with a Firman, right out of the box. Not Lowe’s fault. We happened to have propane and made it work, although the generator seemed faulty in other ways. The very next day, we bought a brand new Westinghouse generator from Lowe’s Merrillville. Before the purchase, I asked someone if we could bring back the first one. They said as long as we empty the gas, we could. I got the person’s name just in case. I am not posting it here because I actually think that is what they were told. We couldn’t immediately bring back the first one because it was powering our house. We swapped them out and took the first one to our local Merrillville Lowe’s well within the posted 48 hour policy. They immediately treated us with suspicion. They asked if we put gas in it and said they weren’t taking it back if we did. How would we know it was faulty without the gas added? When we showed our receipt for another $1,000 generator that we are keeping, they warmed up. They at least suggested that we take it to Schererville, stating that they might be able to “override the policy” since we purchased it there. We took it to the Schererville Lowe’s and basically no questions asked, they took it back. My nervous system was a wreck thinking I was about to be in for a battle. The original generator was also $1,000, which I see now was a little overpriced. Basically, Lowe’s Merrillville treated customers making $1,000 purchases like they were doing us a favor. I know it’s not easy to stay calm in a crisis, but the energy you give off is the energy you create. Literally, every customer in the lines in both stores were calm, supportive, and friendly. I am so proud of Northwest Indiana. All the chaos in the Merrillville store was caused by employees. Specifically, one kinda rude Hispanic manager (only identifying race for identification purposes, I am BIPOC too) made the environment very unpleasant. Anyway, Merrillville Lowe’s, do better. It looks like our weather has permanently changed, so future emergencies are likely. Teach people how to stay calm and professional in a crisis.

  I would like to give a HUGE compliment to Ashley in customer service at the Lowe’s in Merrillville, IN!!! She is truly an amazing employee! I had purchased and paid for a generator online for curbside pickup. When I arrived at the store, Ashley let me know that the item hadn’t been picked in the store yet and the generator sold and was no longer available. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. After canceling the order I left and was calling around to find another generator and wasn’t having any luck. After about 10 minutes, Ashley called me and let me know that someone else had cancelled their order for the same one and wanted to know if I wanted it!!!! Needless to say, I said yes and hurried back to the store! She had it there waiting for me! Now that’s customer service!!!! Not all heroes wear capes and Ashley is definitely a hero!!! Our area has been hit hard with the storms and power outages and every employee I had interaction with was so kind and friendly! You should be very proud of the employees at your Merrillville, IN Store!

  I was there today and the sweetest gentleman helped me his tag said colton on it. He was very knowledgeable in the store and directed me right to where i needed to be i will come back so he can help me again.
