We ordered a new dishwasher in store for installation and haul away of our old one. This Lowe’s works with CRST Home Solutions for appliance installation. They improperly installed our dishwasher (cracked a cabinet drilling into the side) and the dishwasher didn’t work. We called 24hr after installation to start return. We were unable to exchange for a different dishwasher, but it is also against policy to take out a dishwasher without a new one to put in. We had to do an even exchange and it took 1.5months and 4 total appointments with CRST, missing work each time. We cumulatively spent hours on the phone with Lowe’s and CRST to get this done. We eventually got a new functional and properly installed dishwasher, but the process was far from efficient.

I had a horrible experience at the Vernon Hill, IL location. I believe it stems directly from a poor store manager. The store is not being kept up. For example, the Plexiglas cutting machine has been out of order for over a year. Also, Al, the rude customer service manager, is not properly trained in dealing with customer complaints. He personalizes complaints and is easily offended. I feel bad for the good decent people who are employed there.

I had a very disappointing experience at Lowe’s.
Yesterday, I went to purchase a wall oven and a microwave. Before going to the store, I checked the prices on Lowe’s website. However, when I arrived, both items were about $50 more expensive than the online prices. I pointed this out, and the manager came over to check. Even after I showed the online prices on the official Lowe’s website, the manager initially insisted the store prices were correct. Only after telling me to log out and log back into the Lowe’s app—and seeing that the lower prices were still there—did the manager finally agree to honor the online pricing. Unfortunately, the manager’s attitude was unfriendly, dismissive, and gave the impression that resolving the issue was more of an inconvenience than providing good customer service.
After that, I purchased the wall oven and ordered the microwave. Before placing the order, I specifically asked the salesperson two or three times whether the microwave included the trim kit. I wanted to be absolutely certain because that was an important part of my purchase. Each time, the salesperson confidently assured me that the trim kit was included.
To be extra safe, I asked again at Customer Service. The lady there was wonderful—friendly, patient, and very helpful. She even called the salesperson over to confirm one more time, and he again told me that the trim kit was included.
Today, however, I received a phone call saying they had checked with the manufacturer and the trim kit is not included. If I wanted it, I would have to pay over $200 extra.
When I reminded the salesperson that I had repeatedly confirmed this before purchasing, instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, he simply told me that it was no longer included and that if I wanted one, I could buy it online myself. When I explained that this was not acceptable because I relied on the information they gave me to make my purchase, his response was essentially, “Whether you buy it or not is up to you.”
That is not how customers should be treated. Mistakes happen, but honesty, accountability, and good customer service matter. Instead of trying to make things right, they acted as if it wasn’t their problem.
The only positive part of my experience was the woman at Customer Service. She was kind, professional, and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, her excellent service could not make up for the poor experience I had with the salesperson and the manager.
Because of the misleading information and the poor customer service, I will most likely return my purchase and take my business elsewhere. I expected much better from Lowe’s.
