I have been patient with this facility but can't continue to pay more every year for such poor service and conditions. Similiar to what was said in the other reviews, the prices continue to rise while the service continues to decline. The place continues to smells like mold throughout the facility for years. In 2022, I had a flood incident from a supposed roof leak that I wasn't informed about. This was prior to when Extra Storage acquired the 5860 N. Pulaski location. I filed a claim when I discovered my possessions soaking in water. Being a long time renter, since 2017, I have notice white and grayish residue on my many of my possessions. It wasn't until today that I was informed it was mold from the professional disposal and cleaning company on-site.
When meeting with Janessa at the front desk before visiting my unit, I was asked to sign a release form relinquishing my rights to hold Extra Storage liable claiming that I had already inspected my entire unit myself. I expressed concerns about not signing that waiver until I actually viewed the unit thoroughly as stated in the contract. Janessa's response was," I was directed to have everyone sign this before the third party team can help you clear out your unit." I suggested having the 3rd party vendor assist with clearing out the unit so I could make observations of the damage then sign the release form claiming that I actually viewed my contents as stated. There was no logical compromise or acknowledgement that their process seemed to strong arm people into signing the release of liability form BEFORE viewing what they were signing for.
She didn't want to adjust the order of when to have the renter sign the form which showed a lack of concern for our losses and more of a concern for their facility or company not being liable for damages caused by the repeated water related mushaps. She never fully explained the claims process to us either because her mission was to get our signature on the release not acknowledging the losses their poor management of the facility has caused. While working to clear the damaged debris in my unit, one person who was very upset stopped and instructed us '...to get our stuff out of there now and go elsewhere...'. She stated that debris and water had fallen into her unit several times. Another lady in the office who was mediating the discussion was also moving out of her unit that day.
If you are not concerned about your items becoming moldy and wet then this facility may appeal to you. My destroyed valuables and the ever inflating rental fee makes me reconsider if it is worth it.
Lastly, before you try to reply with an cut and pasted script as an apology please improve your service, care, and the management of the facility. ACTIONS speak louder than words.
