Good selection, healthy plants, and decent prices.
Unfortunately, I’m leaving this review because of what seems to be an inconsistent policy. A couple of weeks ago, I asked if I could purchase a shrub and pick it up later. I was told that they do not do holds. I accepted that and moved on.
When I came back, however, I noticed that some of the exact same plants were being held. I was told that a customer had selected the plants and their landscaper was going to pick them up later. When I pointed out that this seemed to be a hold, they agreed that it was technically against their policy.
I have no problem with a business having a no-holds policy, but I do expect that policy to be applied consistently. If exceptions are being made, it’s frustrating to be told that something isn’t allowed when you’re willing to purchase the plant and pick it up yourself, while essentially the same arrangement is being accommodated for a landscaper.

I bought some of the most gorgeous alocasia’s from there when I visited Iowa. The young lady working with the tropical plants was so sweet and knowledgeable. I’d definitely drive back just to patronize them again.

I had a wonderful time at the Art of Propagation class hosted by the all-knowing plant guru Cherie! This was my first experience at Bentley Ridge and it’s safe to say I will be back for more. The greenhouse has some of the most beautiful house plants I’ve ever seen. The class was fantastic and Cherie is a delight! Very knowledgeable and helpful. I really enjoyed my time and can’t wait for the next! Thank you!

Great propagation class! Left with answers to my many questions and a generous amount of cuttings to test my new knowledge. Cherie is a fantastic instructor with decades of experience in the industry and a very approachable demeanor. When is the next class and where do I sign up?
Frequently Asked Questions About Bentley Ridge Tree Farm
I have never planted a tree before, do you think this is something I can handle?
Generally, yes. While trees have various factors to consider, our comprehensive planting guide is designed to address most questions that arise during the planting process, making it accessible for beginners.
How much should I be watering my plants?
The watering needs of plants depend on numerous factors. For detailed information on proper watering techniques and plant-specific requirements, we recommend consulting our watering guide.
What is the root flare of a tree?
The root flare, also known as the root collar, is the area where the tree's trunk transitions from trunk and bark tissues to root system tissues. It's located at the base of the tree.
How should I store my tree if I cannot plant it right away?
If immediate planting isn't possible, place the tree in a shaded area and maintain moisture in the root ball. During warmer weather, you may need to water the root ball multiple times daily. For containerized plants, water until you observe drainage from the container's base.
Can I spray round up beneath my trees/ shrubs?
Yes, you can use roundup under trees and shrubs. However, it's crucial to prevent the chemical from contacting the leaves. When spraying near perennials or small shrubs, consider using a protective shield to avoid accidental exposure.
Do I have (whatever problem) with my tree?
At Bentley Ridge, we're happy to examine specific plant issues. However, some problems may require an on-site evaluation by a certified arborist for accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
