Ensure your circulation system has been running for one hour before collecting a sample from 12 to 18 inches below the water's surface. If there has been recent rainfall, allow the water to circulate for a full day before beginning the testing process. Do not add chemicals prior to conducting the water test. You are measuring the water's pH level, which ranges from zero to 14 on the test scale. Readings below seven indicate the water is too acidic, while readings above seven indicate it is basic. The optimal level is 7.4, as this matches the pH level of the human eye.

Your pool's cartridge filter requires a chemical cleaning once annually, though you should rinse the filter with a hose each time you collect a sample for pH testing. Another indicator that cleaning is needed is when the psi levels in your pool increase by eight to ten pounds per square inch. Always use a standard garden hose to rinse the cartridge, and never use a pressure washer.

Installation begins with framing and plumbing, followed by pouring concrete for the liner. We then complete the masonry, tile, and coping work. Subsequently, we install filtration equipment, pumps, and all associated components. Finally, we apply the pool plaster and conduct water testing before performing a comprehensive inspection of every aspect of the swimming pool.

There is not a single cause for cloudy water, so some troubleshooting may be required to identify the issue. The most frequent causes include: Poor circulation or filtration - begin by backwashing and cleaning your pool filter, then clean the skimmer baskets and pump strainer basket, and consider chemically treating the filter. Water imbalance - test the pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness, as these are among the most common factors. High total dissolved solids (TDS) or calcium hardness - TDS should remain below 3,000 ppm and hardness below 400 ppm; if levels exceed these thresholds, drain one-third to one-half of your pool and refill with fresh water. Excess organic waste - shock the pool using pool super shock. High total alkalinity - add pH reducer to resolve this issue. Low sanitizer levels - if sanitizer is insufficient, add chlorine to restore proper levels.

The primary cause of this problem is typically an outbreak of green algae. The key to resolving this issue is prompt action, as delays make treatment more difficult. First, shock your pool, then apply algaecide according to the package instructions for your pool's size. A less frequent cause of green water is low total alkalinity, which can be corrected by using an alkalinity increaser.

If your pool water causes eye irritation, the problem likely involves pH levels or sanitizer levels. This is straightforward to remedy. Conduct a water test - as you would during your routine biweekly testing - and adjust the pH levels to the 7.4 to 7.6 range. If the problem persists, check your automatic chlorinator setting, as excessive chlorine may be present in your pool.
