Rate DOUBLED After Only 5 Months!
I would absolutely NOT recommend Extra Space Storage. Before signing up, I had heard that they significantly increase customers’ rates once they have you in a unit, so I specifically asked the representative about this concern. I was assured that if my rate increased, it would be minimal.
I even chose an Extra Space Storage location 30 minutes away from my home because the location closest to me was so expensive. I was willing to drive that far specifically to get the more reasonable $86 monthly rate.
Sure enough, only five months later, my rate jumped from $86 to $172 — literally DOUBLE the price. How is a 100% increase in five months considered “minimal”?
I called and spoke with Teresa, who told me she would look into the increase and get back to me. No one ever called me back.
This feels incredibly misleading and unethical. Customers deserve transparency about pricing before they go through the time and expense of moving their belongings into a storage unit. Once your belongings are there, they know moving everything somewhere else is a major inconvenience.
Had I been told that my $86 rate could DOUBLE to $172 within five months, I never would have rented the unit — especially one 30 minutes from my home.
If you’re considering Extra Space Storage, be extremely cautious about the introductory rate you’re quoted. Based on my experience, the price you sign up for may not be remotely close to what you’ll be paying just a few months later.

Had a very good experience here, top tier customer service and very helpful customer service reps. I got myself into a little bit of a pickle but they were able to clear it up and have me on my way. I would definitely recommend this storage unit.

We had some issues when we first arrived with location and understanding where our unit was and how to access our unit however, Miss Theresa was on the spot the best help the kindest person, was able to help us with everything even quickly transferring our unit due to a broken door on the original one we were assigned! She even went as far as to go find a hidden cart because people had not returned it to the exact location. I was very frustrated when I first arrived, but Miss Teresa was so wonderful and her correspondence was off the charts that she made it a simple and easy process!!
