I stopped by Lowe's (Griffin, GA) on Saturday morning and entered through the garden center. Around 9 a.m., the cashier was sitting on a stool eating an ice cream cone. I had two large plants in my cart and politely asked if she could use the handheld scanner instead of having me lift them onto the counter.
Instead of simply helping, she rolled her eyes and said, "Can you just put them on the counter?" Yes, I could have but that's exactly why handheld scanners exist. It would have taken less effort for her to scan them where they were than for me to wrestle two large plants onto the checkout counter.
What disappointed me most wasn't the request... it was the ATTITUDE. Lowe's used to be known for knowledgeable, hardworking employees, many of whom had real construction or trades experience and genuinely wanted to help customers. That culture seems to have faded. Customer service has become an inconvenience instead of a priority, and experiences like this are becoming far too common. I'll take my money elsewhere!!!
