⚠️ Very Disappointing Experience With Extra Space Storage
I rented a storage space from Extra Space Storage specifically for my box truck. My rental agreement clearly identified the property being stored as a box truck, and the facility accepted my rental and payments knowing exactly what I was storing.
The problem started when another tenant needed access to her trailer. I was contacted and asked to move my truck, and I cooperated. I actually came to the facility to move it, only for the other tenant to change her mind and decide she wasn’t moving her trailer that day.
After that, I was contacted multiple times and repeatedly inconvenienced to move my truck again. I eventually complied and completely removed my truck from the space.
Then, after I had cooperated, I was told that I could no longer store my truck at the facility because the other tenant had complained to corporate that she couldn’t get to her trailer.
What is especially frustrating is that I was paying for the storage space where my truck was parked, and Extra Space knew from the beginning that I was storing a box truck there. I was not given a proper written violation notice or the 15-day written termination notice required under my rental agreement.
I feel that I was treated unfairly simply because another tenant complained, despite my repeated attempts to cooperate and accommodate the situation.
I’m now requesting that corporate management explain exactly what rule or provision I violated, why I was not given the required notice, and why another tenant’s complaint resulted in me losing the use of a space I was paying for.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering Extra Space Storage to read your rental agreement carefully and keep documentation of every conversation with management.
Extra Space Storage — I expect accountability and a legitimate explanation for how this situation was handled.
