I have visited this Hobby Lobby location several times, and unfortunately, each visit where I was checked out by Teresa has left me with the same experience. At first, I thought it was just a bad day, but after multiple visits, I no longer believe that's the case.
While waiting in line, I have watched Teresa warmly greet the customers ahead of me, ask if they found everything they needed, ask about their shopping experience, hand them their bags, and wish them a nice day. However, when it is my turn, I receive none of that. There is no greeting, no conversation, and after bagging my items, my bag is simply tossed onto the counter instead of being handed to me as it was for the customers before me.
After seeing this happen repeatedly, I can't help but feel that I am being treated differently because of my race. Whether intentional or not, that's the impression these interactions have left me with, and no customer should leave a store feeling that way.
I enjoy shopping at Hobby Lobby, but if I decide to return, I will make every effort to avoid Teresa's register. I hope management addresses the importance of treating every customer with the same level of courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
