  Extra Space Storage on Executive Drive in North Port has earned my loyalty because of one employee in particular: Tamika. I had a U-Haul trailer parked next to my unit while I ran out for supplies, and while I was gone it started to rain. Tamika noticed the trailer door was open and immediately called me to let me know. Instead of just leaving a message, she walked all the way from the office to the exact opposite corner of the property to close and shackle the trailer herself, which anyone who has dealt with those U-Haul trailers knows is not always a simple job. That kind of attentiveness and willingness to go out of her way to protect a customer's belongings is rare. It's clear the staff here actually care about the people they serve, not just the transaction. Highly recommend this location, and a huge thank you to Tamika for saving my stuff from water damage.

  Zero stars - ☆☆☆☆☆ A reservation should constitute a commitment—not merely an expression of intent. I reserved two storage units. Before my reservation period expired, I was informed that one had been rented to another customer. When I arrived within the valid reservation window, the second unit had likewise been reassigned. If inventory is ultimately allocated on a "first come, first served" basis, then present it accordingly. Calling it a reservation creates a reasonable expectation that the requested units will remain available for the duration of the stated reservation period. As a business professional, I value accountability, reliability, and respect for my time. I have neither the time nor the inclination to navigate avoidable administrative failures or debate internal policies that should never become the customer's burden. Based on my experience, the reservation process proved unreliable, the customer service fell well below professional standards, and the overall experience reflected a disappointing lack of operational integrity. I cannot recommend this company.

  ⭐☆☆☆☆ (Zero Stars if That Were an Option) It is exceptionally rare that I feel compelled to write a negative review. Unfortunately, this experience earned one. I reserved two storage units through the Extra Space Storage website—a 10' x 20' and a 10' x 25'—because I am in the process of closing my business and needed dependable storage on a specific timeline. The entire purpose of making a reservation is to secure availability so customers can plan accordingly. That never happened!!! Several days after making my reservations, I received a phone call informing me that one of my reserved units had already been rented to another customer. I was then offered a different unit at a different size and price, as though changing the agreement after the fact was a reasonable solution. I reluctantly adjusted my plans because I had little alternative. Over the following days, I received repeated phone calls asking when I intended to take possession of the units—even though my reservation was still active and had not expired. If the company establishes a reservation period, why is the customer pressured to arrive early simply to avoid losing what has supposedly already been reserved? Then came the final disappointment. I arrived at the facility within my reservation window, only to discover that the second reserved unit had also been rented to someone else. At that point, the conclusion is unavoidable: Extra Space Storage does not appear to understand the meaning of the word "reservation." A reservation is a commitment—not a suggestion. Imagine making a reservation at a restaurant for twenty guests to celebrate a milestone birthday. Everyone arrives at the scheduled time, only to be told that most of the tables were given to walk-in customers because they arrived first. Or imagine boarding a flight with your family and being informed that your child's seat was sold to someone else because they checked in earlier. No rational customer would accept either explanation. Yet that is effectively how this company manages its reservations. The explanation I received was simply, "first come, first served." If that is genuinely your operating policy, then please stop advertising reservations as though they provide any degree of certainty. A waiting list and a reservation are not the same thing. Customers make reservations because they are coordinating moving trucks, labor, business closures, contractors, and carefully planned schedules—not because they enjoy gambling with logistics. I am an architect and a business professional. My time is valuable, my projects operate on strict schedules, and I expect the same level of accountability from the companies with which I choose to do business. I should not have to debate internal policies, inventory management failures, or employee procedures simply to obtain units that were already confirmed in my name. To make matters worse, rather than acknowledging the company's failure or making a meaningful effort to resolve the situation, I was met with excuses and an attitude that suggested this was somehow my responsibility. It was not. The responsibility of honoring a reservation belongs entirely to the business that accepted it. The most troubling aspect of this experience is not that mistakes happen—they do. It is that the entire reservation process appears to create an expectation that the company has no intention of guaranteeing. That is misleading, unprofessional, and fundamentally incompatible with even the most basic principles of customer service. A reservation that can be discarded the moment another customer walks through the door is not a reservation. It is merely a false promise! Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Extra Space Storage to anyone whose move, business, or personal schedule depends on reliability. If your plans matter, choose a company whose reservations actually mean something.
