I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.
We were told that routine service checks would be conducted throughout the week, but that did not happen. The only times someone came out were after I contacted the company to request service.
While Trent initially seemed personable, I was disappointed by several statements that did not match the documented facts. He claimed he personally came out and disposed of a rodent, which did not occur. The only rodent that was removed was by me because no one from the company showed up. He also stated that the property had been serviced six times. Our service log and Ring camera footage do not support that claim.
I genuinely wanted to give the company the benefit of the doubt, but the repeated lack of follow-through and inaccurate information caused me to lose confidence in their reliability.
On May 29, I contacted Trent to express my concerns that the agreed-upon services were not being performed. He responded by saying it was the first time he had heard about these issues. However, I reminded him that I had already texted him on May 20—more than a week earlier—to report the same concerns.
We spoke earlier this week, and I was told someone would arrive at 10:00 a.m. It is now 11:30 a.m., and I have not received any communication or update regarding the delay. A simple call or message would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, this lack of communication has been very disappointing.
If you’re considering this company, I would encourage you to carefully evaluate your options. My experience was marked by missed commitments, poor communication, and service that did not align with what was promised.
Frequently Asked Questions About JD Smith Pest Control
What are termites?
Termites are insects that destroy wood and have existed since the age of dinosaurs. Although they serve an ecological purpose in natural environments, termites cause approximately $5 billion in property damage annually. If you discover signs of termite activity, contact JD Smith Termite & Pest Control for professional termite treatment services.
Are there different kinds of termites?
Yes, there are three primary termite species in the United States: dampwood, drywood, and subterranean. Dampwood termites inhabit heavily forested regions and are attracted to wet wood, while drywood termites are less common and infest extremely dry wood. Subterranean termites live predominantly in soil, require moisture-rich environments, and cause the most significant structural damage. When you detect any of these species, contact us immediately for professional termite treatment services.
How do you recognize termites?
In many areas, termite swarms become visible during early spring months. Homeowners often mistake termites for flying ants. Key indicators of termite presence include wood that feels soft or hollow, mud tubes along exterior walls near the foundation, and wood that appears darkened or blistered. These issues are widespread, as recent data from Qmobius indicates that 84% of homeowners experienced pest problems within the past year. Contact Smith Termite & Pest Control for professional termite treatment services if you observe these warning signs.
What can a homeowner do to prevent termites?
Homeowners can implement several preventive measures to protect their property from termite infestation. The most critical step is eliminating excess moisture in and around your home, as termites depend on moisture to survive. Install and maintain functional downspouts, gutters, and splash blocks to direct water away from your foundation. Ensure adequate ventilation in crawl spaces to minimize humidity levels. Keep vines, hedges, and other plants trimmed away from vents. Remove old construction materials, grade stakes, tree stumps, and roots from areas adjacent to your building, as these attract termites. Maintain at least 18 inches of clearance between soil and any wooden components of your structure. Conduct regular inspections of your foundation for termite damage. If you identify substantial damage, contact JD Smith Termite & Pest Control for professional termite treatment services.
How difficult are termites to treat?
Homeowners cannot successfully eliminate termite infestations without professional assistance. Licensed pest control companies possess the specialized training, technical knowledge, and equipment necessary to completely eradicate termite problems.
Has there really been a resurgence in bedbugs in the U.S. and how do you know?
Bedbug infestations have increased significantly in recent years. Current data shows that 95% of pest control companies have treated bedbug infestations within the past year. Before 2000, only 25% of companies reported encountering bedbugs. Furthermore, a recent NPMA survey found that one in five Americans has either experienced a bedbug infestation personally or knows someone who has dealt with bedbugs in their home or at a hotel.
Where have you been finding bedbugs?
Bedbug infestations occur across all types of properties and facilities. Pest control companies report finding these pests in single-family residences, multi-unit housing complexes, apartments, hotels, medical facilities, educational institutions including schools and college campuses, office buildings, retail establishments, movie theaters, and public transportation systems. Even luxury hotels and upscale retail stores are vulnerable to bedbug problems.
What is the connection between pests and asthma in children?
Cockroaches are a major cause of allergic reactions and asthma episodes. The allergen proteins found in cockroach saliva, feces, and decomposing bodies can trigger allergic responses and worsen asthma symptoms, particularly in children. Professional pest control services are essential when you identify signs of a cockroach infestation.
How can professional pest control help alleviate asthma?
Professional pest control services help prevent and eliminate pests that trigger asthma symptoms. Licensed pest control companies can thoroughly inspect your home for asthma-inducing pests, remove existing infestations, and advise homeowners on measures to prevent future pest problems.
What are cockroach/mouse allergens?
Pest allergens consist of frass, dead insect and rodent bodies, droppings, and other waste materials. These substances can cause allergic reactions and pose health risks to building occupants. Contact reputable pest control companies like JD Smith Termite & Pest Control when you detect signs of pest activity.
What types of termites are commonly found in the United States?
The three primary types of termites in the U.S. are dampwood, drywood, and subterranean termites, with subterranean termites being the most destructive species.
How can homeowners recognize termite infestations?
Signs include visible termite swarms in early spring, soft wood inside the home, mud tubes on the home's exterior near the foundation, and wood structures that appear darkened or blistered.
What preventive steps can homeowners take against termites?
Reducing moisture around the home is key. This includes proper drainage with gutters and downspouts, ventilating crawl spaces, trimming vegetation near vents, maintaining a gap between soil and wood parts of the home, and inspecting foundations regularly.
Are termite infestations easy to treat on your own?
No, effective termite treatment requires professional expertise, training, and technology that pest control services provide.
